Big Bear

The incubation is interrupted during an third Bald Eagle. S&J chased him/ her away so far. Maybe Mr.BB?

Polly :hi:, at the beginning I thought Hickory is maybe female and Mossy male. But who knows it...only a DNA-test could it say.

One is sure, they are best buddies that time.

Very bad news from Sauces Canyon: Jak and Audacity laid three eggs one by one and all the three were broken very soon! Something is definitely wrong with those eggs.

Every season Audacity has problems with broken eggs  I'm so sorry for her.
Last season only one chick hatched and fledged. In 2018 she had a very successful season and three guys fledged. It was great to see.
In 2017 she laid 8 eggs and all were broken...

Latest updates from institute for wildlife studies:
Institute for Wildlife Studies Mod • a day ago • edited
Latest News: The breeding pair in 2020 is A-40 (aka Jak) and A-48 (aka Audacity). They laid eggs on 2/21, 2/29, and 3/4, but all broke shortly after being laid. This pair has now broken 17 of 23 eggs that have been laid since Audacity took over the nest in 2013/2014. See http://www.iws.org/SC_Histo... for the entire history of this nest.

Eggs are more than 2 months old and the couple is still incubating 24/7.

BERRY COLLEGE March 11

1:16 Egg exploded under dad
Image

He left at 2:47, but just to the branch in the rear and out of sight
and he returned at 2:50 down onto the nest from that same branch.
Now he is sitting on the broken egg
