MAY 22nd

16:37 A fish was brought to the nest. A parent left it.

Kids ate it almost alone.

17:15 Bigi 15 had most of it, but little 16 was sneaking under him and stole it, it changed hand many times.
Dad came and looked for the fish. It was funny!
He found the tail part and the kids tried to steal it from each other.
Dad wanted them to learn to fight for it. It was first class in eaglets school

Great to read that both eaglets are already learning the important skills of how to handle prey alone (grab it and tear it apart) and how to steal food from another eagle

At ~07:20 there was a funny scene - E15 dragged the fish with his foot, but managed to loose it on the way and grabbed only a nest material instead; E16 used this opportunity immediately; moments later E15 stole "back" the fish and then seconds later the fish again changed the owner, as E16 won it back again. :D

For both eaglets feathers were all fluffed up at the back of the necks; both spreading wings and protecting their prey from the greedy other sibling 8-)

E15 decided to groom the head feathers of E16 - meticulously and in a determined manner - until E16 bent the head very low and pretended to have fallen asleep

E15 sat there very long (for almost 2 h, until 14:15), when a fish brought in by parent disrupted the peaceful atmosphere 8-)

Rain again. Harriet has a "double tail" and a second one coming out from her side..

Both have been fed very well - today there have been 5 fish/partial fish delivered and 1 squirrel. Sometimes parents feed them, and sometimes the eaglets self-feed, "stealing" the prey from each other and learning to defend it.

During the feeding there is still the hierarchy observed - E15 eats first morsels; E16 skilfully steals them from the side. If E16 gets too bold and brazen, E15 snatches at him once with a beak; E16 immediately submissive; moments later resumes his previous tactics.

Once the feeding is over, the peace is quickly restored

MAY 26th

They are wonderful !!

08:47 What a scene !! They are kissing each other, beak in beak, for long minutes.

"My" poor toy is almost gone... Yesterday I saw one of them, plucking it as if it was a chicken... It was very funny!!
Perhaps Lady Hawk recorded it.

15:16 One of them is taking a siesta, head is under the wing.

I think that last year there was also an eaglet who was able to do it very young.
