In both our buzzard nests we have three chicks. Urmas Sellis has asked all people to think of names for them: http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/23627 (in English) and http://www.looduskalender.ee/node/23606 (in Estonian language)

Perhaps it is really time now to name them, to make it simpler and clearer to exchange information about them. I suggest that names can be proposed in both nest forums. Although you will have to register and to write in English to post in the forum, it is not very difficult today and if you really don’t feel brave enough to try otherwise there are translating aids on Internet. But most forum members are from non-English language areas, so there is no reason to be shy.
Thus we have two buzzard clutches, and names can be proposed for all six chicks in them. Preferably the name should reflect some characteristic or look of the chick. For this they must be observed for a longer period or several times, to be sure about who is who.
For the easier naming of Buzzard chicks in both nests there is established special topic of forum by the admin.
It seems that each nest camera has generated its own core observers. They could for instance summarize the results after a week (by 27th), and choose the names from the suggestions. After that the chicks can be called by their names. We don’t know their sex and evidently will not know it either but this is not so vitally important.

We have asked in both topics already, but I think for everyone it is easier to propose a name in an own topic, and for us it is easier to keep track of the suggestions.

So, please, think of nice names for our little fluff balls, it would be nice if they are Estonian, for they are representatives of the Estonian Bird of the Year 2015.

For the chicks in the Bussard 1 nest, I would propose the Estonian translation for "little fighter", "sandwich"* and "oldest".
* In German we often call a child, which is born between the oldest and the youngest sibling: "sandwich child".
So: Väike Võitleja or just Väike or just Võitleja and Võileib and Vanim.
Am I too crazy?

I also have Maimu. I think it´s perfect for the little chick of Mari and Mihkel. I also have Madi and Mai, for the older chicks. Mai, because it´s the nowegian way to spell May, the month they are born in, and Madi because I like it.
I´m still looking for suggestions for Katrin and Kalju´s chicks. It´s difficult, so many names to choose from, and I don´t know what they means.

I consider Maie for the middle chick, Mai is already one of the ospreys. And Maarjo for the eldest. But not yet decided.

Katrin and Kalju's chicks I still have to watch for a while, they were too small until now to really say something.

Yes, they are. We think that would be best fitting for Estonian birds and even more as they are Estonian Birds of the Year.

I have done a bit of watching and my favourite are:

For Mari and Mihkel's nest:

Maie for the biggest
Maarjo for the middle
Maimu for the little

and for Katrin and Kalju's nest

Kalle for the biggest
Küllo for the middle
Kadi for the smallest

I somehow go with the parent's letters ...

Yes I understand what you say . It's good with letter M or K.
I haven't preference for the names . "Kulo" in French means (slang language) "audacious".
