Good morning! It is nice to see an eagle on the egg, but we know from previous experience that Mačo alone won't be able to raise a chick. I still admire his efforts from 2011, though! Any news of Mētra?

As Felis wrote, he can´t. He can´t even rip up the food for the little eaglet. And I think the egg spend too much time alone also, so it will probably not hatch (?).

08:39 - Empty nest, and is it an Oriole I hear?

It´s so sad that we can´t follow any of the LSE´s this year, my favorite birds:((
I´m really grateful to all the people that are working so hard to make this happen!!

Yes, I think it is Mačo. I do get my information also from the Latvian forum (though Google Translator makes it very hard at time) and they do get their information from Dr. Bergmanis himself.
I'm also very sad, as you know, the LSE are "my special birds" and I would have loved to add another season of them breeding and raising a chick to my experiences. This season is somehow jinxed, we can only hope next year is going to be better.

i would have liked seen the spotted eagle. He is also my favorite. Dr. Bergmanis working jointly with the German Wildlife Foundation. they do a lot to save these beautiful animals.
so i also hope that the next year-it can only get better.
i'm reading the book-spotted eagle swooping in
it is about the lesser spotted eagle protection in Germany, Latvia and Estonia. it is very interesting

Good evening :hi:

When I look in the latvian forum I see that Macho (?) has been in the nest today..I´m a little unsure, because Metra is also mentioned, but it´s probably too good to be true, the translation is not understandable (translated with Google, so I don´t trust it completely:) The cam is off, something with the internet connection:(

EDIT - GOOD NEWS! one of the members in the latvian forum has received confirmation that Metra is one of the birds in the nest!! Unfortunately the batteries are discharged..

As I am looking after the Aquila pomarina database here, can you tell me more about this book? The name is not known to me, do you mean this: viewtopic.php?p=177747#p177747 ?

And Lussi, you read correctly. Dr. Bergmanis confirmed that Mētra is/was on the nest in the afternoon. And the bad news is, as you also understood correctly, the batteries of the camera are discharged and have to be re-charged, but the transmission cannot be resumed before Monday, it seems.

I think the news mail from Wildtierstiftung about the cam went around only yesterday ... :slap:

How do you open the camera, Fleur? Both streams are not found here! :puzzled:

Edit: can it be that you mean the osprey cam - zivju-erglis?
