07:35 No visible change to the nest
07:40 Distant calls during a hour
08:44 Female (?) arrives with twig. Male flying around calling.
08:46 She settles down for a while. Arranging nesting material.
08:50 She left.
Trying to move a stick
This was the first time I noted a Lesser spotted eagle uses its feet in handling nesting material. I have never seen other raptors doing this.
09:45 Calls. 09:47 Arrival. Female?
Preening. Regularly calling.

Strong winds causing the sound to fall out all the time.
The cam does not work since ~13:25. Black screen with turning 'wheel' and no sound.
13:47 Back in business. No changes to the nest as far I can see.
All the time nothing but 16:48 and later some nearby calls
20:32 A Great spotted woodpecker was knocking at the cam. Now the lens is smudged.
Let's try to exit that full screen
No more signs of the eagles after ~16:50

That's interesting! What a pity there is no video archive.Hagnat wrote:Trying to move a stick

I was surprised to see it but not really to see a Spotted eagle doing it, because it seems that they are also hunting on foot. In suppose that needs some extra handiness.Marfo wrote: That's interesting! What a pity there is no video archive.

When I opened the cam at 08:00, the nest was changed. New material and rearranged.
08:28 Some calls nearby.
09:36 One arrives calling on the nest.
A bit of preening and just standing.
09:44 Gone.
10:24 Arrival. Calling. 10:26 Gone again.
Calling
Flash visit: 13:09 in, calling, 13:10 out.
Distant calls.

I have also watched from 03:20-04:15. A nice sunrise with many birds but no eagles. When I came back at 7:55 nothing was changed to the nest.
12:00 Still nothing seen or heard.
18:10 Still nothing.
Also without eagles the sun shines and the birds sing
22:50
No eagles since yesterday 13:10.
Sensible at last?
Now eating what they can, moulting and back to Africa is the best they can do.

07:00 There are several fresh branches on the nest, so at least one eagle has not given up yet.
11:15 Distant calls?
11:48 Eagle arrives silently. Female? Partner calling not far away.
11:59 She flew away. The calling was going on for a while but at a greater distance.
12:07 Still some calling
Scratching
17:45 After strong winds this afternoon a thunderstorm is closing in.
No eagles seen or heard after midday.

10:45 Arrival of calling eagle on the nest. Female? Partner sometimes calling in the distance.
10:51 She left.
11:12 Icterine Warbler again. Now 'attacking' a bigger feather, pulling downy pieces from it.
I wonder what the Icterines need the down for. One is singing here already for almost a month. Are they working on a replacement nest?
12:20 Calling eagle not far away, while an Icterine Warbler is still roaming the nest.

18:41 Eagle calling nearby until ~18:55 but he did not come to the nest.
19:37 Eagele calling in the distance.
I missed the arrival because I switched the sound off, but 20:50 an eagle on the nest with fresh nesting material. Left at 20:51
Today the nest was more often occupied by Icterine warblers than by Lesser spotted eagles. They were searching for food, down and small twigs.

07:15 There is fresh material on the nest. (Compare last picture yesterday with picture below.)
Visits of Icterine warbler and Blue tit.
09:04 Eagle calling nearby.
09:07 Calling arrival on nest.
09:13 Leaving. Silence.
Leaving
09:19 Short calling nearby. Different bird?
11:17 Distant eagle calls.
11:42 There was a bumblebee busy inside the nest. It was a big one but much too small to show in a picture.
There are often bumblebees and wasps buzzing around the camera and the nest, but I never managed to get a decent picture of it.

18:05 Juvenile (or adult female?) Blackbird.
No certain eagles seen or heard since 11:17 this morning.
The lost egg was laid on April 23 and incubation time is 37–41 days. There are now 44 days past since laying and the parents are still coming back. Usually the young fledge after some eight weeks. Will the parents stay all that time also?

I noticed there were many different birds to be heard on this cam. But I had no idea there were so many species!
