Yes, it sounded like mating after they left

Nice to see birds also in this nest, thank you Bea Is it still hope that they will breed here, or is it too late?

For me it seems that they are still "in the mood", Lussi - so I think it is still hope that they will nest here. Felis silvestris knows more about the possible time frame ...

I have looked up the dates when we had eggs in the previous years and right now we are still inside the "time frame". Actually some LSE have been very early back from their migration this year, unlike last year, when many came very late, too late, for starting to breed. At the moment I would say it is still possible ...

When you watch a since long deserted nest for a longer time you will see that it is not deserted.
14:22 Eagle on the nest. Calling. Arranging nesting material. Even ravaging the nesting tree and surrounding trees for fresh material to add to the nest.

16:00 Still working. This is serious nest renovation.
Of course it is too late for nesting now.
16:01 Eagle calls not very far away alerted the bird on the nest. Two minutes later she left and did not return.
And it began to rain.
The current state of the nest

Why do they always come when I'm not watching?

Perhaps because you can't watch everything at the same time? And she(?) was here only from 14:22-16:03. Pretty long but not much on a day.Marfo wrote:Why do they always come when I'm not watching?
Because Lse2 is not working today I was listening to this one from the early morning and I was surprised to see an eagle.
It would be much easier when there was an archive available for this cams. Now it is over once you have seen it and if you have not seen it you can't search for it and watch it afterwards.

A miracle: around 16:08 I saw a Blue Tit and another bird. First time I see a living thing there, apart from flies.
Yes, Hagnat, that's how it goes. Often I listen to these cams while doing other things (great sounds), quickly watching when I hear something. Now I discover that these Woodpeckers have been quietly on the nest 'behind my back'.

Marfo, I see a lot of birds here on the nest en in the nesting tree and often several and several species at the same time. Usually juveniles. These small birds do not show very well when on the nest, but here is a picture with juvenile Pied Flycatcher and juvenile Robin. Both are regulars.

True, they are difficult to see. I think it was a Pied Flycatcher female with the Blue Tit but I'm not sure.
I shall watch more often in future. That is, if the camera keeps running... It hasn't been a great season this year.
