When Vita saw the Goshawk she immediately flew off to chase him away, but he was so incredibly fast. He turned and ascended high over the nest, thrust down and grabbed Pipars while poor Vita was still in the turning.

In my opinion, the Goshawk took poor Pipars with him, his claws were in him and what he has in his claws he won't let go. Be that as it may, no chance for Pipars to survive.

The goshawk also visited the black stork nest in Lodz, but fortunately the storklets are big enough and just chased it away. For ospeys goshawks are always dangerous.

While we cannot forget the tragic end of Durbe's WTE, we understood last week that we are sitting on a "Time Bomb" on the BS-Sigulda cute family.

Many thanks to all for documentation and pics, videos!

I feel so sorry for Vita and Teo. They are great parents, but in meanwhile this nest place is not good for ospreys.
Every season tragedies, the goshawk will taken the poor chicks to feed their own offsprings. Most likely they are nesting in the nearby.
I have no hope, that the second chick will survive, but I wished it so much. Nature can be cruel.
