:hi: everyone

Thank you all for reports, pictures and videos

05.47 this early morning a beautiful sunrise..... showed quite a messy nest, sticks allover
Image

08.14 Vita came with a stick to the nest - an offspring of the Goshawks can be heard, not too far away
Vita is attentive, looking around, calls warnings
Image

08.15 the mother Goshawk calls, young hawk answers to his mother.
Vita is looking around attentively, but seems not too worrying
Image

To me it seemed that the mother Goshawk was looking where her offspring is to (most likely) bring him food.
The young hawk seemed to wait for his breakfast. I could be wrong, it's just what i guess.

18.30 i heard the young Goshawk again. He seems to have moved to a place a bit further out from the Teo & Vita's nest.

balistar  Nice to "see" you!

So, the nesting problems will continue there. Goshawk and Osprey= no way. It's very pity for Vita and Teo.

Around 12:02-12:04, 12:05, 12:06 also goshawk calling.

11:43 Who is that?! Teo shows his round belly.

 Birdfriend, dito :D

Yes, also here like in the Marko & Miina's nest.
It seems the Goshawk's population is increasing - or am i wrong and it is only coincidence, that they unfortunately have their nests (or better, their hunting grounds) nearby ??

I'm sorry that there is nothing what we could (or should) do. They must live with that threat.

I have just been taught a lesson myself that human should not or can not always intervene. Nature has its own rules.
A tragedy happened just in front of my eyes. A little housesparrow, who fell out of his nest under my roof, but was not yet able to fly, became prey of a cat.
I couldn't avoid it.

It would be helpful, latvian and estonian ornithologists would give us some facts and dates about populations.

....
This looks like a young goshawk, most likely the youngster who was around the previous days ?

10.47.18 and 10.47.36 i think i hear now two young goshawks calling :puzzled: quite near in the surroundings
again
13.40 - 13.45 now very clear, two young goshawks are calling (awaiting food ??)

one must be closer to the nest than the other - or is one a young and the other an adult :puzzled:
i can't say certainly, i'm not familiar with their voices - who knows certainly ?? please :help:

13.48 still calling....
14.00 silence

Shanta thanks for sharing the video. How balistar noticed, it was a juvenile.

18:53/54/55/56 It sounds like begging for food calls...
19:00 Juvenile still calling nearby.

Many thanks for every observation. :innocent:

Shanta, your video is a masterpiece. I have been waiting eagerly for it. It feels just as exciting as two days ago ... I'll see it more often.
My Thoughts: The Hawklets are being introduced to a new territory. Hawks do not or rarely share an area. The Hawklets (There are definitely two Hawklets) have to separate from the parent's nest and it seems to me that they are looking for their territory near Teo and Vita. I wrote that we never heard the parents' communication even though we saw permanently. This could mean that the parents' nest is further away. Next ... not far. However, the young Hawklets will find their new territory here. This day seemed very crucial to me. I felt that two days ago.

Of course, the female hawk was aggressive. All mothers are there to guard their children. She accompanies her hawklets on her teenage flights and teaches them to hunt and defend. You can hear how excited all the birds are. Not just Ospreys and Goshawks. Hopefully Teo and Vita will quickly realize that they have lost this area.

They express extremely little. But benefit greatly from the observations of the members here. It's a shame. Because many here also have a job and document well beyond their time.
I'm not sure if there is an overpopulation of hawks. Surely they have some areas to themselves. But there are also areas where they are not an issue or a danger to other animals. Everywhere the question is asked whether they are too much ... Don't forget - Goshawks also have enemies. But it will be safe and hopefully to be traced that other birds besides them will get a chance.

You could be right, Polly. It seems more and more, that the goshawk want to take over this area for themselves.
Although it makes me sad to think about. I will miss Teo and Vita very much...
