Re: Latvian WtE nest webcamera Juras-erglis Durbe 2021
the forest in evening sun. the Sisters and Cousins, as well as the Observation Oak are brought forward from the mass of green by the sunlight.
21:34 a wood pigeon flew to the spruce on the right., probably the same as earlier, i.e. the owner of the territory who won the territory in the pigeon fights in the spring.
then a wasp flew by the lens.
the pigeon sang on the spruce a few verses and also a golden oriole was calling in the forest.
21:43 the wood pigeon flew away.

22:35 a bird who sounds goldcrest called nearby, but i'm not sure if the bird is a goldcrest. this calls pee - pee, while a goldcrest should call pee - pee- .. pe-pe-pee. also he/she has been calling in the forest a lot in the past few days, but usually too far for a recording.
23:07 the spider was working.
23:37 someone rustled under the nest. no-one could be seen.

July 20
good morning!
the night was quite calm and dark.
4:16 a little bird visited and called pee - pee. this was not a goldcrest, this was much bigger (heavier) and was bicolour: light breast and darker back. much more cannot be said of this bird.

5:14 more strange bird voices.
5:16 again.
5:18 again.
5:19 more. also a golden oriole. then a crow.
i begin to suspect that a crow may have something to do with this strange voice although it would be a very strange thing if a crow could make this voice. a raven would seem a much more likely source, but no raven voices have been heard together with this strange call.

5:40 a golden oriole sang and called nearby. they have been singing a lot in the past few days.
i wonder if this a sign that they are making a second clutch or is this "autumnal subsong" in the middle of summer.

the woodpecker made a quick visit next to the camera.

it was probably a juvenile great spotted woodpecker althiough the black ring didn't seem go around the neck and the vent (the bottom area between the tail and legs) was pink, not bright red.
big white patches on the wings.
black in the back of the neck.
here there is read on the top of the head.

the woodpecker's visit.
6:57 a golden oriole was calling quite near. another called at a longer distance. then the oriole sang, too.
could these be "new" orioles, young ones who have hatched and fledged? would they sing in their first summer?
the adults stopped singing almost right after they arrived. they started to build their nests at once and went invisible and inaudible.

11:01:55 an eagle called! or a black woodpecker??
11:02:37 more calls. and more. is the rhythm too fast for an eagle?
11:03:13 more calls. is there another voice, too? a female? the wind blows voices away at times.
... i think they were eagle's calls and i think there were two voices in the end.

19:44 an eaglet of this summer flew in!
a big one!
DUMAYOHOROSHEM in the YT chat saw another eagle fly by. was the other eagle carrying something? was this an eagle?
- the eaglet on the nest said nothing, she only watched the fly-by with interest.

i think it's a girl.
where did this come from??
...from the neighbours somewhere.
what a beauty...
she went to the left branch for a while.
maybe she was from last summer, a year old. - in a way i have been waiting (= hoping) to see an eaglet from this summer. perhaps that's why this eaglet looked so young.

20:05 back to the nest.
20:08 the eaglet flew away.
this is the whole visit. my stream was bad at times. i'll try later if i can get a better video, but i don't think it would be much better (= have something special that is missing here).

19:53 a feather was loose on the eaglet's wing and it flew away when she got up. she was one year old, moulting. she was not from this summer, but last summer.
i made a new recording of her visit from the screen. it's with less cuts and breaks than the original, but the resolution is not so good.

the Moon was in the sky.
23:04 - 23:12 the spider was working.
23:17 - 23:19 more. she was mainly running up and down, probably mending the web.
