7:25 a little bird visited the nest very briefly. it seemed to have a white stripe on the wing but only one (?) the light was very bad and the bird in shadow.
Image

7:28 a little bird flew from the top and returned to the top.
7:33 a little bird visited. dark back and light underside. the light was difficult.
7:35 again little grey birds! probably juvenile chaffinches.
Image

7:33 - 7:39 again two juvenile chaffinches.

the Potplayer refuses to open stream since early this morning. i tried VLC instead. it seems that i have too many breaks in the stream so that VLC can't record more than 10 min in a row. then it needs a manual restart. i can't do that, especially not today. :banghead:

7:41 again a bird with a white stripe on the wing. a chaffinch?
7:49 again.
7:50 again.

i have tried to record videos of today which have failed live recording together with live recordings at the same time... this is too difficult and laborious. i can't handle it any more. if i can't make live recordings i can't make comprehensive reporting. i can't be watching and restarting recordings every half an hour or more frequently. i'll quit and stop and i shall not restart before the Potplayer begins to work again or i get some other means of reliable recording. i still haven't finished working with the morning videos. i'll have to leave it till tomorrow morning.

on the whole i have become too tired of this. the cost to gain ratio has gone too low. :faint:

7:54 the woodpecker climbed to the right branch. a great spotted woodpecker again.
an adult male this time i think. he had a red spot in the back on the head. the whole top of the head of juveniles is red.

apparently there was something wrong in "my" local internet antenna again. i lost the connection totally at about 8:15. i called the service advice and they said that they were making some maintenance work there. at about 10:15 the service resumed.
what a mess. it's impossible to know when there is something wrong with my equipment or theirs.
the Potplayer still doesn't work. i mailed the address they give for reporting issues (ahahlive-at-hanmail.net) and got a similar reply as on the previous time:
"I cannot represent at all~~
So there is no solution~~
Use VLC~~
That is solution~~"

pah, that is no solution! :slap:
... actually it is a solution but not a satisfactory one.

last night was full Moon.
22:47 the Moon rose.

23:05 - 23:15 the spider was working again. (i didn't look further)
the web is far enough from the camera so that the woodpecker hasn't swept it away.
23:07 there was still enough light to see that the spider climbed down all the way across the camera view and then back again (the second climb).

big spider? or small Moon?

July 24

good morning!

3:29 an insect of some sort in the top left corner.

it has been a very quiet morning. the usual bird choir didn't start to sing. the summer is over and soon it will be winter.

a woodpecker called nearby at about 5:30 and at about 5:44 again but didn't come to camera view. a roe deer barked far in the forest...
edit: the woodpecker was in sight for a split second after all! mega2 noticed it.

5:45 a roe deer started barking closer.
- some time ago one evening i heard a roe deer barking near our summer house. it didn't sound nearly as frightening as this.

5:59 a woodpecker visited the top.

6:04 a woodpecker was calling near but stayed out of sight. a roe deer barked far...

6:08 a bird flew to the top of the spruce and another flew from there by the top of our tree. i think that both were woodpeckers (their voices were heard).

9:01 a chaffinch visited the right branch.
