8:34 a great spotted woodpecker came somewhere near and called a lot.
8:37 the woodpecker jumped to the poop branch and continued calling.
8:40 the woodpecker jumped to the outer left branch. it's an adult male. 8-)
Image

then the woodpecker went downstairs and began to work, i.e. eat cones there.

after that he talked a few times near the nest and then farther. he could not be seen flying away.

it has become cloudy.
12:17: about 30 a bird flew by over the meadow, but i could not see what bird. it was rather big and light. probably a wood pigeon.
at the same time a dragonfly flew to the nest and landed there.

i have to record everything on screen afterwards. my stream is disastrously bad. it cuts and breaks all the time. i called the service advice number and the girl said that there's a fault in the antenna that is closest to us but they don't know what the fault is. they tried to fix it last Friday and 10 days before that and they still don't know what it is. they are changing parts one by one and hope that that way it's going to be fixed.
who knows how long this will take.

17:57 mega2 saw the juvenile great spotted woodpecker.
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.p ... ff#p295445

my internet connection is now worse than ever. it took me minutes even to get logged in to make this note.

if someone has seen or will see something interesting today (or tomorrow!) please make a recording of it as soon as possible because it's not certain at all that i can ever make any recordings from the screen. my connection is hardly working at all. :banghead:
they could have pulled the plug out at the antenna altogether today. :bash:

edit: i managed to record live two blue tits visiting. :headroll:
20:42

20:53 with the next visit i wasn't so lucky. the picture quality is bad. :slap:
and the sound isn't very good either but it's loud. that compensates a little.

good night anyway!

10:08 - 10:12 hernameta reported an eagle. thank you hernameta!
i made you video "visible". i hope you don't mind.

it was an adult with a white tail (as far as can be seen), with perhaps some dark in the tips of the feathers.
i made a recording from the screen with the departure, too. the picture quality is not good and the eagle is not visible in the departure.

thank you Sonchik!
there were both a male's and a female's voices. they were very far (or in "wrong" direction relative to the wind).

12:31 a raven called rather near, first in the "normal" way kroo-kroo, and then with a funny klong-voice.

12:59 one of the sticks on the nest turned in the wind.
https://youtu.be/gp2IbinNG9k

the raven (or ravens, i not sure how many there were) kept calling every now and then...
13:59 a raven called nearby.
14:00 again.

16:32 woodpecker's voices... and a nuthatch called, too.
16:34 a woodpecker flew to the poop branch and went to the top.
edit: mega2 has made pictures of this woodpecker. it was probably a lesser spotted woodpecker.
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.p ... 74#p295574
edit: later i had more time to look at this bird closer. i think that this was indeed a lesser spotter woodpecker, a female. females don't have any red.
Image

greater SW have red vents and lesser SW have no red under the tail. the vent is not visible but the upper back is. this woodpecker had a black upper tail and back like lesser SW should have. greater SW have a large white area on the back and that should be visible here, but it's not.

16:39 woodpecker's voices. then someone threw down a cone. ... no, they were cone's scales. :D

16:42 rustling... someone was working downstairs... that was a willow tit.
16:42 a male great spotted woodpecker climbed to the left branch. then he went to the outer left branch and continued work there.

16:44 a willow tit! two willow tits! one flew away and another climbed up from under the nest.
the first willow tit is in yellow ellipses and the second in pink squares.
Image

16:45 the woodpecker went upstairs.

16:45 loud nuthatch voices! then the bird came up and worked on the nest for a while.
Image

the plumage looked a bit dull. moulting adult or a juvenile?
Image

16:47:10 someone flew by on the left side. a great spotted woodpecker. :D

16:50 again a great spotted woodpecker. i think this was an adult female this time.
... was this a great spotted at all?? :puzzled:
no, i don't think so. a female anyway: no red on the head.
maybe a female lesser spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos minor)?
she had a zebra-stripy back, not the big white pads on the wings.
