nothing more during the evening?

20:14 a chaffinch was singing near the nest tree. the chaffinch is such a common bird and always sings everywhere so nobody usually pays any attention to him. i thought that he deserves a song video at least once.

June 23

good morning!

3:16 a lightning without sound.
Image

there was no sound within a minute from the flash. that means that the strike was at least about 20 km distant. sound doesn't travel much longer than that.

rain... and wind...
thunder!
4:49 a rumble.
4:51-52 more.... there was light already so no lightnings were visible.
4:54 a lightning at last and louder rumbling.
4:55 it began to rain heavily.

GM again!
the storm is over and the forest looks wet. there's haze in the air. it must be very humid.

7:25 a blackbird visited. this was a different kind of a visit: he didn't say anything.

At 8:52, a pigeon landed on a branch to the right of the kingfisher.
At 8:53, the bird was hopping around the nest.
At 8:57, a birdie on the right.
From 9:07, the bird was making noise into the microphone. It was visible between the branches.

8:53 the little bird was a coal tit. in three of these images the white spot in the back of the neck is visible. in the fourth (marked with a yellow ellipse) the tit's beak points directly towards the camera and the wide black collar under the beak around the neck is visible.

8:57 the coal tit was still there. i think i heard the tit talking somewhere under the nest while he/she was invisible.

9:07 i couldn't actually see any bird, only something perhaps moving there near the microphone. the sound was like a bird knocking on sticks. perhaps it was only a tit. even a small bird can make loud sound near the microphone.

9:36 a song thrush sang a long song nearby. i couldn't see him.

some preening...
Image

18:50 he called loud. (a male's tenor voice)
why? at someone? he looked up and seemed to look at someone flying over and by. he sounded annoyed. i'm not sure but there was perhaps a bird's voice, a buzzard maybe.

Sonchik wrote: June 24th, 2021, 12:43 am At 20:51, the bird flew to the top.
this was the blackbird who had been singing nearby since 20:41. he was first somewhere behind the right branches. at 20:51 he flew to the top and continued singing for a while.
here's the beginning of the song and the end. i couldn't see when he came and when he left.
