Yes, it's Hobby. Peregrine is very rare bird in Latvia, it can be seen mostly during migration. Hobby is most common falcon here.

i took a look here after a very long time. it seems that some plants are growing on the nest but i'm not sure what they could be..? :puzzled:
they could be nettles like in the other unoccupied raptor nests, but these plants don't seem to be quite well...
maybe they are a bit dry?

the camera turned off for a while and when i got it restarted again a terrible storm had broken out! :slap:
there was a rumble of thunder and the nest tree and the camera tree are both swaying and shaking back and forth, left to right and back again like crazy relative to each other and to the trees in the background.
don't watch this clip if you tend to get seasickness easily.

a little later i heard raindrops, too. at 10:51 the camera cut off again and now there is no stream. i hope nothing did not completely break up in this weather.

11:05 the camera is back on. there's rumbling of thunder in distance and it's raining, but the terrible wind has gone away. (there is still some wind but it's not nearly as stong as it was a while ago.)

more rumbling of thunder... maybe it's coming closer?

the rumbles of thunder have become less frequent now and the rain is pouring constantly down. still one rumble. .... and some more, from far....

the thunder wasn't very close at all. the rumbles were echoing for a long time in the distance. if a lightning strikes somewhere close then one hears only one terribly loud bang!! and that's all. i didn't even see any flashes this time (it's almost impossible in the daytime if the thunder is not near).

11:24 still some distant rumbles...

the camera cuts off every now and then rather often. it's still raining a bit and the wind is somewhat strong. maybe that is disturbing transmission.
i think i heard a blackwoodpecker calling a few times here some time ago but is was not near. otherwise there has been no-one.

the storm or thunder centre has moved further away from the nest forest and now the wind is even harder than in the morning when the thunder storm began!
the sun is shining and it's not raining but the trees seem to bend sometimes nearly upside down... well not quite, i was exaggerating a little here.
but the wind seems harder now than in the morning so this clip may trigger "seasickness" in sensitive people.

whatever the plants in the nest are they don't look well at all. they seem all withered and the leaves on them are drooping and waving quite limp in the wind.

do you mean the short buzzing or purring sounds, like brrrh!, brrrhh! ... brrrh!, brrrh!!, and not the beeps?
to me it sounded like wings of some little bird, taking short flying leaps from one twig to another somewhere very near to the microphone.

yes, that sounded like a male - female- duet.
(male = tenor, female = mezzo) :whistling:
i wonder if it was the young couple whom we saw here together in the spring.
i would like so much to know how eagles pair up. i have a feeling (after seeing the young couple here in the spring) that young eagles get 'engaged' a few yeards before they mature (like swans and geese), maybe starting from 3 - 4 years of age. the younger of this couple looked like a 3-year- old to me.
