Camera off-line again since yesterday afternoon. Pity! Hopefully it will be repaired soon.
The last good working camera (with sound!) I was following...

Finally - thank you Maris :loveshower:

I'm already on the thumb for the release that everything will go well. It would be nice, of course, if there could be a video about it. :innocent:

Māris wrote in the LDF forum that he had informed Jānis.
Camera can not be repaired remotely; we need to wait when Jānis and Jānis will have time to go to the place (with a big hammer) :bash:

good morning and greetings from Riga!
i have met Janis and had an opportunity to ask him questions about our eagles.
Rita made this question in the nest 1 topic. i'll copy my answer to this question also here because here is actually the place where it should be.
Rita wrote: September 27th, 2018, 11:16 am :hi: Ame: When you met Janis, did you mention when the Nagli ponds will be drained so that Knips can be released? I deliberately post it here, you might miss it if I posted this in the other thread. :blush

Slowly I am getting a bit nervous because winter is coming on. And Knips still has to learn a lot before food gets scarce.

I check the rehab thread of the Latvian Forum regularly - no news there.
thank you Rita for reminding me about this.
yes, we talked a little about Knips, too. the original plan was to keep him in a cage on top of a high tower and release him in November or so. now Janis told me that Ugis Bergmanis has changed his mind. he is now planning to take Knips to one of the drained fish ponds (i have no idea which pond) and simply drop him out of the car.
that way Knips will join other eagles at that pond. that may happen in near future if i understood correct. i think that this sounds like a much better plan than keeping him in a cage for over a month more.

the above picture shows that he has become a handsome eagle. :2thumbsup:

Ugis has mentioned Nagli ponds (beside to lake Lubans) as good place to release Knips.

Thanks Rita and ame and Zhu39,

I'm curious if we can get a photo or even a video of the release then. I wish it very much.

Good Morning :hi:
There are news about Knips.

Knips was released to freedom last Sunday :2thumbsup:
A video has been recorded that Ugis will send. When Maris receives it, it will be published right away.

Can anyone keep an eye on it? I have so little time at the moment. But I'm very interested in the fate of Knips.

:hi: Liz,

Oh, what good news. :loveshower: :loveshower:

I have been thinking about Knips all the time lately. He is free. He wants to live. That's why he fell from the nest. This was his only chance to survive. I am soooo happy for him (and the other adult eagle which was hopefully released at the same time, as was also mentioned in the DDF).

I will keep an eye on it and inform when the video is available. I do not understand a word of Latvian, but 'Knips' I do get.

Liz, the best news, we have been waiting so eagerly, thank you.
Sonchik, thank you for sharing the video.

Hooray, our Knips was released as a healthy, powerful eagle to freedom :loveshower: :loveshower:

He was amazed for a few moments, oh where am I, and then he rose in the air and flew off. The big wide world and the sky greeted him. Wonderful. Grandiose.

My warmest thanks to
- Janis, who has sought him in the forest, sheltered him and brought him to Ugis
- Ugis, who nursed and cared for him well
- all the Latvian eagle friends, who supported him with a unique fish collection
- and all the other involved.

We fretted, hoped and believed in him, and he did it. :2thumbsup:

Now you must learn to hunt by yourself, i'm pretty sure, you will manage it.
Fly Knipuci, fly high, soar in the sky, be a happy free eagle and stay healthy and safe.

I'm very very happy.

I can fly, i can fly...... :headroll:
