Good Morning!

Ame, most of the nests has night vision in our days and some are with 360 deg. This function could help us to see the back of the nest.
If we had night vision at Durbe's last days...

Perhaps... one day...

i asked Janis about this a few days ago. he replied that they have considered it, but have come to negative conclusion. he wrote that IR-cameras are separate units which are (so-far) considerably bigger than 'normal' day-light cameras. an IR-camera would also need its own supporting equipment. all these might scare the eagles away. they are very suspicious about artificial things at their nest. the nest with these equipment might stay uninhabited.

we have seen how some eagles fly away as soon as they spot the camera. Durbe got scared of the camera after Janis cleaned it when he ringed Durbertina. last autumn Milda had an admirer, a strange male visiting her on a few days. he got scared of the camera and flew away like a lightning bolt when he saw the camera.

loosing this nest as a camera nest is a risk which i would not like to take. i love the scenery and the wide view on the surroundings.

soon i'll close the camera and pack up and leave. i'll be able to check in every now and then but not all the time.
have a great time!

The shape and color of this microphone looks like a typical plastic coffee mug used here in Germany at the coffee machines in the factories. :rotf:

September 20

Good Morning!

Nordri, thank you for the video :2thumbsup:

5:56 an owl is calling - a female tawny owl
6:21 gun shots?
6:32 it's getting bright.
6:33:48 the tawny owl is calling again

6:43 I'm not sure if these are shots. Maybe it's a firework? Or this popping comes from the microphone?

Good Morning !

It's already darkish before 7am. 8-)

Liz, I also heard a sound of gun shot about 1-2 days ago, but wasn't sure it was a gun.
