August 25

good morning!

5:20 Milda called. then both eaglets called.

5:29 a strange bird's voice.
5:23 a mallard flew by calling. a tawny owl male called rather far. the eaglets called.

5:29 the strange bird called again. i think i should know this bird but i don't :slap:
5:31 a wasp buzzed near the microphone.
5:32 the strange bird again. what bird? :help:
5:36 the strange bird called twice quite near the microphone.
edit: i think i found the bird: it was a male pygmy owl (Glaucidium passerinum) singing his autumn call. that is the other owl species which we have in this forest.

5:43 the eaglets called. also Milda called.

then the eaglets started calling more or less regularly, in ratio of about Miks three calls versus Rika one. i didn't pick up their calls because there were so many. i only took some samples.
5:53 onward eaglets called many times...
6:15 Miks flew from somewhere in the meadow behind the poop branch and flew to the spruce on the right. he called there a while and then he flew to the top of the nest tree. he called many times and Rika replied nearby. she was in the same place all the time.
6:20 Miks flew away from the top to the direction of the swan pond. after that his voice was heard from very far. Rika called in her old place again.

Sonchik found more calls from the morning. i have added them here.

6:26 Raimis called (found by Sonchik)

6:28 parents called, Raimis first alone and a little later both.
6:32 both called again.
6:33 a few more calls.
6:42 Raimis again. then Miks called twice. (this was found by Sonchik.)

6:35 both eaglets called several times. a jay imitated eagle.

6:44 - 6:47 only Rika called. the first call was very similar to a grey-headed woodpecker's call. maybe it was a grey-headed?

my recording has failed 7:03:25 till 8:37.
have i missed more than a grey-headed woodpecker at 8:04?

8:38 someone was crying in the forest very far.
8:46 honey buzzard's calls? then Rika's voice.
8:56 honey buzzard's calls?
8:57 an eaglet cried rather near. Miks. i think he was flying, or the wind changed his voice.

9:54 someone is crying rather far. ... two voices?

fish song?
closer to the end there is perhaps a honey buzzard, too.

10:02 more crying.
10:05 more calls.
10:08 again.
10:22 both eaglets called. then 2 gunshots, probably both barrels of a shotgun. isn't waterfowl hunt already on? eaglets went quiet on the first shot.
10:33 Rika called. all calls came from far.

10:42 Miks cried flying. i heard Rika's voice, too.
10:43 Miks flew by from right to left. he was crying while he flew as his habit is.
Image

26 s later an eagle flew a loop on the left side. the eaglets were crying somewhere farther. this eagle flew silent. the tail looks white and the eagle seems to carry something. the most reliable indication of identity was, however, that this eagle didn't say anything. therefore i think it was probably a parent with food.
apparently Miks knew where the fish was to be served and flew there beforehand. :D
Image

crying continued... but not very long.
it sounded like a fish song far on the left. :D

...
Abigyl, my recording had failed during this time (23:13 - 00:17)
and i didn't remember to re-record this later before now and now it is too late. :slap: :faint:

squirrels should be diurnal animals so it was probably not a squirrel. pine martens are active also in night time.
can you describe the sound/voice in any way?
