April 3rd.
Decorah North
It starts raining at 9:00 am
early morning
evening
shortly before the sunset. And the weather is still bad. I saw dead chicks here so often because of the bad weather. I don't know if I will keep watching. I'm in worry about the little ones.

they play like two newly in love in the snow, including snow-beak kissing
hee-hee, honey, the snow is tickling on my nose

after they flew off it looked like that

Decorah NN
after a rainy day and night I only briefly observed the nest yesterday. The older one started attacking the younger one. I guessed what was coming and didn't want to see it.
Today only the older chick is in the nest
the body of the other is still in the nest.

Raptor Rescue Project Bald Eagles Chat:

BremerBirdFan (Moderator): One of the nestlings has perished. The reasons are unknown at this time, We will not speculate. Nature writes its own story for these cherished eagles, the parent eagles will continue on as the success on the remaining eaglet is their priority.
Well, I saw, parents did not feed the little one. I saw three feedings and only DN 11 got food. I don't have to speculate. It's starved!
It is like it is. Now DN11 has a good chance of surviving.

Thanks, Liz, for the really sad info. I had stopped watching, too.

Liz,
This is a very hard year for humans and birds.
Even in SWFL situation is not excellent; Little one is eating very little and is treated very badly by Big.
Parents look tired after the double season There is not much fish on the nest and they are not feeding together like it was last year.

~ Remembering DN11~
3-30-2020 - 4-10-2020
We are saddened to report that Decorah North Nest eaglet DN11 passed this morning about 5:56am CT. He/she appeared to have some sort of obstruction yesterday or looked as if it was attempting to cast a pellet. At 10 days old that is a bit early for pellet casting, but we were keeping an eye on the eaglet all day. Distress was noted early this morning and he/she appeared lethargic and moving slowly with some breathing difficulty, and passed shortly afterward.
Sometimes we don't have a definite reason for an outcome, but we take this time to celebrate the short life of DN11 and remind ourselves that our window into the wild gave us a wonderful opportunity to observe and celebrate DN11's short life and interactions with its sibling DN12 and its parents. Our sincere sympathy to all who follow this family ... we are all grieving with you.

At first all looked well in this nest, three eaglets are hatched. Only less pecking was to see there. The eaglets were fine. The situation has turned, the weather is cold, that time it is snowing.
At the beginning there was plenty of food, during the last days it comes not much food to the eaglets. The first born is strong and big.
The other siblings must starve, the lil is very much smaller as the other both, it's heartbreaking to see and to hear how he it is crying for food.
This time Mom is trying to cover them so good as she can...

What for a season
In the Minnesota- Nest the lil bit is died. He passed away during the very cold weather without any food. RIP poor little eaglet. So far I see not a fresh prey for the other two.
That time again snow. Mom cannot more good cover them, they are already too big.
