05: 50/52 Boka crushes the eggshell.
The little one is vital and fidgety. :)

06:43 Luijs comes to the nest with food.
Image

I didn't understand or could interpret the dialogue between Boka and Luijs. :puzzled: Both called. Boka, in my opinion, very energetically ... almost aggressively. (?) Luijs grew quieter, meanwhile turned his back on Boka with the food. Boka uttered softly demanding sounds, came to Lui on the nest edge and left the nest at 06:44. Luijs followed.

The nest remained deserted for a few moments.

When Boka returns to the nest, the baby already seemed fixated on his mother.
Image

It has already dried well. :shake:
Yes, dry exercise for the first feeding.

Boka leaves the feed untouched.

09:22 sweet ... cinema for mothers in the puerperium? Whatever is there ... it seems to be interesting for Boka. She looks there all the time. Quiet but interested.

12:35 Only a few hours since hatching but the little one has already developed quite a lot ... begging, calling - that can be done much louder.

Open your beaks.

I don't know when Boka is going to feed the little one.
It can lift and hold its head all right. And open his beak. :D It shouldn't be long before the pantry is full.

Good morning guest! :hi:

Thank you for the supplement of the afternoon! :2thumbsup:
If I am correct, the first feeding was 15:03. And it was a nice feeding.
At one point I had the feeling that Luijs also wanted to feed. When he first took the food away and then brought it back again.
I noticed that Boka 21:03:29 left the nest and already came back with food 21:03:49. 20 seconds ... they must have a pantry outside the nest, right? :puzzled:

May 8th

07:34 Boka leaves the nest, but is back a few moments later.
Stretch... loosen... ...and Junior watches with interest.

07:46 Luijs brings breakfast. A short small talk between mom and dad and Luijs is gone again.
Image

Look at the little one ... it wants to breed its siblings.

Boka gets the food after Luijs is gone and starts feeding.
Someone is hungry. :rotf:

07:51 the feeding is finished and Boka tries to cover Junior and the eggs as best as possible. It's not easy with the small bundle of energy and mom gets a little awkward. She kicks the little one over. :D

:hi: Polly! You will figure out what happened if you watch that part of guest's video (hats off to guest) in full screen mode.

Here's what happened:
Boka flew from the nest to the bronze-coloured metal construction which belongs to the industrial facility on the right:
Image

She landed on the construction, joining Luijs:
Image

Having handed the half-eaten prey to Boka, Luijs flew away to the left (landing in one of the trees):

Then Boka returned to the nest:

Boka back with the meal for the little one:

And here's just one screenshot of the feeding that followed:

9 May

Right, the number of chicks has doubled overnight :bounce:

Luijs came home with supplies early in the morning:
Image

Upon seeing the new hatchling, he turned around (double trouble...) and took off:
Image

Mom grabbed breakfast and proceeded to feed the chicks (the new chick is the one on the right):

The new chick said hello to the camera...:

... and had to wait a few minutes for his/her first bite:

And here's a nice yawning chick a few hours later:

Marbzy, thank you for following and documenting the events.
I can't see or document a camera at work. Now I am finally free. :)

So now we have 2 chicks... how nice!!!! I was expecting this.
Welcome also to little number 2. :loveshower:

Thanks for your observation. Very good! I looked too superficial.
Your observation explains how Boka got food so quickly.

10 May

One feeding took place early in the morning (5:25-5:30 am) and another in the evening (8:24-8:33 pm): at 8:24 pm the brooding adult left the nest and returned 30 seconds later with an unfortunate chick snatched from another nest (no idea what species it was, though).

There's a good chance, apparently, that there'll be no more chicks in this nest. It is suggested that the two chicks that have hatched are eggs 3 & 4 - this would make sense given the usual 35-38-day incubation period. A few more days and we'll have a definite answer.

May 11th

Good morning Marbzy and thanks for the update! :2thumbsup:

So far this morning we can actually count two chicks and two closed eggs in the nest.

04:52 It is still quiet in the nest.
05:08 Boka stretches the night out of his body.

05:09 Boka calls briefly and Luijs answers from a distance. She starts to feed her little ones from the supply.
The little ones already find their way to food. 8-)

Boka spreads very well. Both get equally parts at feeding. :innocent:
