HU, Gemenc-Keselyűs link: https://madarles.hu/en/black-stork-nest
2020 hatch: 29.04 (at 10.10) + 29.04 (at 13.10) + 01.05 (at 07.33); 10.05 - brood reduction by male

the younger is maybe female, but I think not enough food is also reason for the difference, but little storklet is very, verty big fighter

(after morning meal, but before this great feeding)

18.19-20 Tonichka threw the fourth chick out of the nest. Thanks God she neither killed nor ate it up.
Radka called pan Libor :loveshower:
18.25 Pan Libor takes the fourth chick. it is alive.

I guess after the case with Marushka elimination was expected and pan Libor prepared to it.

With 4th storklet anything is not O.K. It's just room, it is not involved in any feeding and is very lethargic. (passive) The hatch is hours here.

finger crossed, but I am not optimistic in this case

edit:
I saw now the streaming (rewind) - storklet doesn't seem to be okay to me from the start

The storklet was only 12 hours old and for such an age its behaviour is normal. Probably it wasn't hungry yet. But yes, so big siblings wouldn't have give it a chance to eat normally(Tiit's case when he brought huge fish and all the four pecked it is an exception, there is no such fish even in Makov!)

I have other opinion, storklet was very weak
see the video:

Das 4.Küken schlüpft, ist schwach und wird aussortiert - und wird gerettet
(The fourth chick hatches, is weak and is sorted out - and is saved)

From the video it is seen that the chick fell on its back, it is the sign of utmost weakness. Maybe the hatching process lasted too long.

Yes, Libor wrote that it had died today's morning. Perhaps if Tonichka hadn't thrown it out, it would also died but in the nest.

So the injures were not serious and if the storklet was not that weak, it could have been saved(as the ones from Sokulka or Nowy Kamien in previous years). Sad but predictable.

little one ate nothing on nest, nothing in station
(that same happened in one HU Rescue Station few days ago - simply they are also hatch-weak storklets from some reason)

29 MAY
POLAND, NOTECKA FOREST

What a suprise! :loveshower:
Probably two young from previous broods visited the family nest for a moment!
That's why adults don't chase them away.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDO-mQQ ... 6Oa8riL9Fg

One of them is still near the nest.
