Chick number three is making progress!

This video from 8:59 this morning shows the remarkable moment the crack gets visibly bigger as chick 3 tries to peck its way through the eggshell.

Welcome Chick 3!

Although the third chick managed to break off the top of the egg earlier this morning, it wasn't fully clear of its shell until 12:52. We'll have a video for you later today.

Welcome to the world, little one!

This morning Little Chick 3 not only figured out that s/he needs to get to the front of the food queue to get a better chance of being spotted by mom, s/he also experienced what a food coma feels like.

wee one #3 got a better feed position at least because MoM stepped aside with fish and stood in front of begging chick to give more morcels...it worked well!

Today the three chicks are 9, 8 and 5 days old respectively. When Aran arrived with the second trout of the morning just before 10am, Mrs G decided that he could be trusted to have a go at feeding the chicks himself. The earliest stage we have seen her allow him to do it yet. Here is the special moment.
