A very nice invitation. Thanks @SilverGirl

December 7th

In Denmark, meanwhile, the day doesn't start quite so relaxed.
A sparrowhawk leaves the protective thicket and flies an attack on the blackbirds. Unsuccessful. All blackbirds managed to escape him.
Well, two days ago there was a surprise attack on a pheasant looking for food under the tree. It seemed the pheasant managed to escape ... at first. The sparrowhawk followed him to the calls of a nearby buzzard.

The sparrowhawk stayed a little frustrated for another 2 minutes. In the meantime, the camera switched to day mode.
Male? Although it seems big to me. I think I can see some reddish brown in the banding.

In Finland the youngsters make an appearance. As always, he sits alone at the table ... only the golden eagle is plucked. Beautiful animal ... . :innocent:

Thanks, I'll test it tomorrow.
At the moment I'm sitting here with a turban on my head and I'm out of bed. The alarm clock will ring soon and it will certainly be dark in southern Sweden anyway.

Our hopes have come true. We currently have a bird nursery in our poviat bird shed :). Small kestrels have already been ringed by an ornithologist (June 14, 2021). We will publish a video of ringing soon. Be sure to follow our channel!

The broadcast shows the inside of a birdhouse installed on the facade of the Poviat Starosty in Legionowo. This year (2021) a kestrel moved in. We keep our fingers crossed for the family of birds to multiply and we can watch their everyday adventures live :)

Good catch in southern Sweden @sigge :innocent:

I have to say that I still have difficulty handling the camera. However, I will hopefully find more time for * everything tomorrow. I currently live too much at work.

Edit:

But just seen ... There is also this opportunity to see highlights. Especially when I can't see 24 hours a day (and spool doesn't work) ... this stream is well observed and documented. This is how it works:

Image

For Finland - yes, this Goshawk was a very frequent guest today. I've been winding the day (in fast forward) and he's been there all the time.
There is little time in daylight. I noticed that although I actually know it.
This Goshawk eats greedily ... I wondered if he really depends on this feeding station?

It's not entirely clear to me who is feeding what and when? I only ever see this bloody pile of snow - but never a prey?

It's still a fascinating place. Above all, the behavior of the magpies. They joke with the GE but respect Goshawk.
Also just observed in Denmark. Magpie teases the fox - fearless and flirtatious.

To the fox itself ... I also noticed straight away that he is strangely noticeable in his fur dress.
There is talk of mange in the chat. I am abstaining from judging.

I cannot professionally define mange based on photos. I even considered a hybrid with Wolf for a moment. :slap:
My stomach just whispered * strange fur dress

... would be a shame for him. :/

Ps: We will be there again for 3 weeks in January / February. As always, I'll set up my game cameras there and be sure to catch foxes. They once stole good real leather mules from the terrace. Probably toys for their kittens. :dunno:

I am always trying to optimize the stream for myself but ... unfortunately something does not fit me somehow.
However, today you can see the * congregation in southern Sweden.

Image

So I'll leave the good photos to @sigge. Thanks for that! :innocent:

In Denmark today there is a lot of hustle and bustle. After the snow melts, more and more food is released and we can see more small birds again. Finches ... so nice to see! These birds have become very rare in some places.

Image

While the pheasants are consistently loyal visitors ...

Image

A rarity at this feeding station - Morten Hilmer. Very personally.

I had to look ... Jackals are not particularly native to us.
I live in Northern Germany, this camera is in Denmark. Neighbor and vacation country for me. Yes, it is not impossible! I would never have come across the jackal. Thanks for your idea!
But actually there were first sightings in 2015 and 2019 proven sheep tears by golden jackals on Rømø (Denmark). Well, reassuring for me to know that this fox looked *different not only to me . Somehow the front and back don't fit.
Perhaps we will find out whether it is actually a sick fox or a mixed breed.

I am still unsure myself whether established feeding places are always useful or sensible. Sometimes I think that we are unnaturally attracting too many animals under false illusions. Too many animals in one place that otherwise avoid each other. Actually, we lure some animals onto the food plate for their enemies.
Well, it definitely offers something to see.
