There is a study about chicks that want to go back into the egg. But do we see that?
Thank you, Swenja.

I didn’t know that.

There's a study that wasn't all that long ago. But after reading I always forget who and where. :puzzled:

Thanks again, Swenja.
No problem. Perhaps I’ll find it.

Good night, everyone

Hopefully Kaia will bring lots of goodies for her little ones in the early morning.
Will number 3 hatch tomorrow? :innocent:

May 29, 2022

Greetings to those who are not sleeping.
I am glad to welcome you. Of course, I missed you, it's good that I could watch. Now it is possible to appear a little more often than before.
The years 2021 and 2022 are analyzed:
Kaya arrived on 12.04.2021 and 12.04.2022
The first egg is 24.04.2021, 04:50 and 24.04.2022, 04:32
The second egg - 04/26/2021, 05:21 and 04/26/2022, 06:35
The third egg - 28.04.2021, night and 29.04.2022, 00:50
The fourth egg - 30.04.2021, 04:53 and 01.04.2022, 06 o'clock in the morning.
the eggs were sung on 27.05.2021 and 27.05.2022
The first and second chicks appeared on 28.05.2021 and 28.05.2022.
The third chick was born on 30.04.2021
The fourth chick in 2021 is a failure.

Our Kaye works like clockwork. :shake:
Now she is no longer a young and inexperienced girl, she has grown up and become a strong bird. Games in the nest and hatching of the eggs that appeared began without delay from the very first days. The attacks of an unfamiliar stork were repulsed with such fury that even Carla was hit 2 times (apparently, she was nervous and could not calm down in any way).
Chickens appear on a schedule. Such an active oviposition should accelerate the appearance of two more chicks.

Chickens have two different voices. The №1 is very strong, but the №2 is usually more voracious... let's see how it will be this year. Tomorrow we are waiting for the third one, we haven't heard it yet.

At 01:05, the chicks finally quieted down. Karl 2 does not get up.
02:11 everything went quiet in the forest....
02:31 The stork rose for a very short time and covered the children again. The younger one lies on the older one, but the older one does not suffer from this. The younger one mostly squeaks. The elder is sleeping:

Two or three little dark things came out of Karl II's beak but nothing more,
the storklets haven't found them, they picked at the small piece of eggshell on the right that is still in the nestbowl

5.44.17 #1 was leaning over #2's neck while picking at eggshell
#2 freed itself but fell on its back, little feet in the air
Image

5.44.23 #2 quickly got back up on its feet
Image

5.44.41 Karl II tried again, but his crop is empty.
Image

He most likely didn't expect to have 2 hatchlings when he came back home yesterday.
I think we can be sure that today he will seek out the best feeding spots to bring them small sized food

Image

6.40.45 wow, Kaia arrived - she is surprisingly an early bird this morning, probably she can't wait to see .... :2thumbsup:
Image

6.40.49 Karl II proudly presents the chicks - Kaia looks at them - and we see nothing, well hidden

Good morning!

beautiful light show
Image

Hello @Tatiana60 :hi:
I am so happy to read you! Thanks for the overview.

Hello @balistar thank you! :hi:

Hello @Liz01 :hi:
I'm hesitant if the last eggs will hatch together today. Kaia was delayed in laying the eggs.
But of course it would be wonderful. Thank you!

Karl II fetches nesting material, more nesting material and more nesting material again.

Karl II brings a branch. Kaia helps Karl II.

07:58 Karl II flies away.

08:38 feeding time
Both chicks had food in their beaks and made the typical movements. But it's not very easy to see.

Image

09:19 The little ones wriggle under Kaia. She gets up, checks and changes position.

still few pics from earlier:

7.27.33 clear visible Pip line on the egg on the right

On the egg on the left it could be also a Pip but could also be a tiny piece of a twig in front.
Unfortunately Kaia didn't move the egg before she sat down again, so it remains uncertain.

8.38.44 dark thin little thing in the beak of #2 on the left
Image

8.38.46 also #1 on the right eats.... and swallows :D
Image

8.38.56 maybe these dark things are tadpoles ?
Image

Kaia observed both storklets during the feeding
i think #1 ate a bit more than #2
