@ Jo UK :D
Well, maybe in the kissing line? Last year, the camera lens was kissed blind.

No, that's #1.
#1 has a small spike at the base of the beak.

When moving or when there is action in the nest it is difficult to distinguish.
They hatched on the same day and sometimes #1 is ahead and sometimes #2 is ahead in development. New every day!

Exactly in the middle of small black spikes at the base of the beak.

#2 has more of a smooth arc at the base of the beak and only an even smaller slanting point. You can see that when #2 keeps his head low.
Two small peaks on the right and left are also clearly visible at #2.

#1 has a more pronounced beak.

But when do the three chicks ever sit so nicely next to each other?

@Tatiana60 observed this a while ago.
I only see from time to time whether something changes at the base of the beaks.

Thanks @Anne7

Maybe network disruptions? It's strange that no data arrives at all.
Today only 3 feedings so far.
It was good feedings and lots of food. But we should see another parent feeding.

There is something strange in OrniTrack. :puzzled:
The data is shown in grey (in staid of black). That usually means that the data session failed.

But it also says:
Last data received via GPRS: 2022-06-29 20:42:19 (UTC+3)
Next data session expected: 2022-06-30 20:42:19 (UTC+3)

I will try to make a tracker map

Edit:
OK now it resumed.
There was a data session! :2thumbsup:

Today, the Karula chicks are 32, 32 and 29 days old.
The expected adoptive chick is 38 days old.

OrniTrack data

Today Karl II flew 81.0 km
Battery level: 87%

Karl II spent the previous night near a small lake in a forest about 4 km from the nest.

He started to work at 04:36, on a brook about 2 km from there. Next, he flew to a marshy piece of land, near a country road, about 3 km further away. Then, with two stops - twice on something that on the map looks like a big puddle or small wet area - he flew to the stream where the fish basket is located, about 10 km from the nest. He stays there until 10:16, looking for food along that stream. Next, again with a stopover - this time on a patch of land next to a brook -, he flew to a another brook connecting two lakes, about 17 km from the nest. He was there between 12:21 and about 14:21.

He flies to the nest and arrives there at 14:58

He flies in an arc to the well known and often visited feeding place at about 9 km from the nest. He arrives there around 15:31. He stays there to fish in the brook until 18:31 and then flies to the edge of a nearby forest. He has spent several nights at that spot in the past. At 20:36 (last known data), he is still there. Probably Karl II wants an early night today

Thank you very much @Anne7

The food today was very mixed with fish and frogs and other things from both parents. It wasn't a little food.
The chicks seem to be getting along with the crowd for the moment.
However, not much rain fell after the heat. It's getting warmer again in the next days and the fodder hides in cool corners.
Foraging becomes more strenuous.

Will Kaia come to the nest in the evenig?

Hello!

@Urmas
as Hrubeska77 expressed:
"we are with you"
sad about the accident of the little storklet - but aware of how you must feel.

All the best and good luck!

22:27:15 a woodcock flew by and called. he did not fly as close as yesterday but he was clearly audible.

the woodcock flies around the borders of his territory and calls. the route is above the tops of the trees so here it is impossible to see him. in Durbe i have managed to see the woodcock a few times because the camera is on the tallest tree in the surroundings. nevertheless the woodcock has been visible very rarely there.
