...OrniTrack information
Thank you, Ann... imagine how interesting it would be to see if the paths of Kai and Karl II intersect... how they behave when they meet in the spring, whether they hunt nearby, whether they meet during migration... Probably, in order to study this behavior, you need a lot of rings for children, transmitters and be able to track... Maybe someday people will invent cheap ways - for example, chips...
people have learned to track phones, it can't be that they haven't come up with some indicators. It would be great to mount them with a ring as a micro SIM card...

Tatiana

Yes, it would be really great to have very small, very lightweight, easy to mount (yes, e.g. in the ring) and cheap transmitters for all BS.

Theoretically it is possible to make very small transmitters. But the major problem is the battery, in my opinion. A transmitter must have a powerful battery that lasts for many years. This battery needs to be recharged regularly to allow the transmitter to collect and store so much data (retrieved from the satellites and from the transmitter’s internal sensors) and then send us all that data every day. This recharging is currently done with solar panels. And these solar panels need to be big enough to capture enough direct sunlight and charge the battery efficiently.

Maybe one day a genius will come up with a fantastic solution.

Thanks for your pictures!

:hi:

From the LK main page:
This is how supplementary feeding of the stork's nest works
https://www.looduskalender.ee/n/node/6835
GT:
...Crucian carps must be caught and live fish delivered to the baskets every other day. There are up to eighty fish in one basket, which should be divided into at least two proper meals for parents to feed to their young. For the Kotkaklubi birders, this kind of provisioning with fish every few days takes a lot of time and, of course, kilometers....
... We appeal to the viewers to donate if possible, because the above-mentioned additional feeding is more costly, time-consuming and effort-consuming than expected...

Is there someone here who has a checking account with Sberbank of Russia and is ready to accept, transfer my small money to Estonia? Write me a personal message, I could send money a little every month during the spring and summer period.

Thank you, Hellem!

Here is the link to the fundraising page:

https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... php?t=1085

And the link to Leetchi:

I am confident that together we can raise a nice amount to support Kotkaklubi! :headroll:

I will gladly make a little contribution every month as long as the fundraising is going on.

Edit: Sorry, Tatiana, I can't help you with this.

Hellem, thank you very much. I will now put the link to support Kotkaklubi in the chat more often. I will also pin it to the top of the community tab on my YouTube channel. With an explanation of what it's like to support these families with fresh fish

I will make a direct transfer, then the money will be available immediately

i happened to see (and hear!) this delivery by Karl. it was difficult for him the regurgitate the fish. it took him 3 min 13 s to push the first fish out. it was rather small and was visible for 2 s before one of the storks swallowed it.
Image

then Karl tried and tried more and the storklets begged more and more ... i was afraid that they might pull out Karl's tongue when they pushed their beaks inside Kalr's.
2 min 30 s after the first fish Karl regurgitated the second fish: a perch. it came up tail first! it was no wonder that it was so difficult! :rotf:
Image

after that the flood gates opened and Karl was able to empty the rest of his load in only 10 s.

I don't understand why Bonus1 and 2 are also called orphans. Janika is still alive! So far it has been named correctly here. These are foster chicks
