Good morning!

Many thanks @Liz01 and @Biker!

With Bonus you can see that the good feeding has worked. Here h/she is standing next to Waba.
Waba had the most weight in the measurement.
Bonus has a slimmer physique but at least visually he looks a lot better now and has gained weight.

Seeing the pile of fish that is rotting on the nest floor, and nobody is in a hurry to eat it, would it be accurate to conclude that chicks don't recognize the food unless it comes out of an adult's beak?

Hello @tsang6482 :hi:

No, do you remember when Bonus came into the nest?
The chicks found the fish under the moss and all the chicks ate the fish they found.

Karl II gave 5 feedings in just over 3 hours today. The chicks are just full.

edit: By the way how do you like the development of Iks (#3)? It was worth not removing the little one from the nest.
It was difficult, no question! But it did work.

..I would come to the conclusion that Urmas exaggerated the size of his own pond :rotf:

tsang :hi:
Fish don't rot that quickly. They will be eaten when they are hungry again.

It is good to see so much more energy and activity on this nest. They are nearly ready to take off. Before yesterday I had thought that they were still not active enough to fly, but it is beginning to look more hopeful now.

Jo, :hi: Swenja has already noticed today that Bonus is now very strong too.
Only Iks needs a little more time. The others would actually be ready. One has to start. :whistling:

13:05 Now everyone is digesting...

sorry for messing up the chronology but i didn't have time earlier for these:
10:34 Voog pooped in doggy style. is this a new fashion? :whistling:
the she/he poked one of the fish. the fish kicked back. it was still alive.

10:37 buzzard's calls .... or a honey buzzard? and a raven. storklets were listening....
actually they began to zoom in the sky before there were any calls.

after the honey buzzard finished a great spotted woodpecker called a long time.

13:27 Iks, Bonus and Waba are preening themselves. Downy feathers fly around at Waba.
Voog is standing on the nest edge and is looking in the forest .. or is s/he resting?
Standing on one leg means, Voog is resting
