7:00:57 a bird with red cap flew to the top and then down by the left side. the juvenile woodpecker.
7:01 the juvenile woodpecker came back to the nest. then another woodpecker came up on the right side... then to the front of the nest. this was an adult male: he had a red spot in the back of the head.
- the light was very bad. :slap:

8:03 - 8:07 calls/whistles. who was calling? :puzzled:

8:11 - 8:14 more of the same calls. the call or whistle was like the whistle motif of a blackbird's song, a very much simplified and short part of the flute sound. could it be a blackbird junior practising his song? :puzzled:

mega2: "17:47:10 vālodze/golden oriole?🦜"
yes! two golden orioles.
this was really well spotted because each bird was visible only in one frame each.

18:47 mega2 wrote in YT chat: "18:46 ērglis pārlidoja mežu no kreisās uz labo pusi"
= At 18:46, the eagle flew over the forest from left to right.
thank you mega2!
this was probably one of ours.

20:11 bird's calls... like an osprey?
the two birds flew a circle above the swan pond.

August 12

good morning!

4:40 - 4:44 a pygmy owl sang nearby.
at times it sounded like there were two but it's also possible that the owl turned his head while he was singing.
