good morning to all

I wrote a couple of times that it would be nice if Kaia also had a transmitter... and look, big surprise.
I'm sure Kaia will surprise us all with her winter quarters. Kaia isn't like the other BS, she's a specific *noodle*.
I am very pleased....
Kaia, sweet girl, take care and come back safe.
Thanks Anne for the data.

Good Morning Anne :hi:

thank you for the information

I hope that all our storks avoid the Oder! Storks and white tailed eagles are dying! Lots of other fish eaters too. The Oder is poisoned in Poland. there are unbelievable amounts of dead fish swimming in the Oder. Easy prey - highly poisonous! High levels of mercury have been detected. As far as I know, the poison flows up the Oder and is already with us. So Kaia won't be affected?
But the Oder Valley is a gathering place stork for many waterfowl, when they start their migration- From Germany, Poland and other countries... BTW:It also affects the Lower Oder Valley National Park

Good morning

Yesterday there was a note on Kaia's flight route (tracker map from August 11th) that draws our attention to the fact that the tracker map is owned by Looduskalender.
Any other use of Tracker Map's is prohibited and we must ask permission if we are to do so.

1. I don't know where else to use the cards than here in LK?
Since it was considered important and Anne wrote it in her post, I'm wondering where is this clue now, disappeared !
2. what does that mean, is it a game?

Liz, That is awful news but very necessary for us to know of it. It is dreadful to think that those birds are in such danger. Bad news, but we need to know it.

Hello Liz,
It is a huge environmental disaster.
Thousands of fish and other aquatic animals, beavers, birds and all sorts of other wildlife have died.
Many more are still in danger.

KAIA's transmitter sent no update yesterday evening nor this morning.
She is most likely somewhere in Ukraine, and simply out of contact.
Hopefully she will report soon.

This is a very big disaster.
I hope they will find very soon the guilty company that had let the poison into the river Oder, but much more important is that they find a way of cleaning the river.

Our storks, I assume, are heading directly to the south. thus they will not meet the Oder.

Francesca, cleansing means nature has to heal itself. There is no help. Now the toxic wave has arrived in our lagoon. The Oder Delta! They had hoped that the water of the Vistula would dilute the poisonous wave. It did not happen! In the end it will pour into the Baltic Sea! Many places are protected nature reserves! The work of years is destroyed in a short time
It will be years before the river and nature recovers! I hope they don't show pictures of all the dead animals. I saw all the fishes, that is enough! Not long ago we had an incident in a small Bodden! 20 tons of fish have died. Our waters are not doing well! They suffer without us additionally burdening them with toxins.

Good evening :hi:

Unfortunately KAIA did not send any data this evening either.

The next data session is expected tomorrow morning.

EDIT:
We received late (but apparently incomplete) data for Kaia.
The data was sent by SMS
I will prepare 2 tracker maps!

Kaia has not travelled very far in the past two days.

YESTERDAY:

TRACKER MAP
Kaia_12.08.2022
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing

Distance flown: 68.0 km
Battery level: 100%

Kaia spent the afternoon and the evening a little northwest of Haluziia (or Haluziya), a village with 757 residents in Manevychi Raion, Volyn Oblast in Ukraine

Image

Kaia looked for food on these irrigated (or possibly drained) fields

There are wetlands in the Haluziia area:

August 15th

Good morning everyone :hi:

Kaia sent data this morning.

KAIA flew back to Belarus.

Image

Image

Yesterday she returned to the little settlement called Perekhrest'e, about 10 km south of Konchitsy in the Brest Region in Belarus.

I will make the tracker map of that "loop" flown over Ukraine on 12 - 13 - 14 August.
Edit: here you are:

TRACKER MAP
KAIA_12-13-14.08.2022
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing

You will see that this tracker map has a small "defect", but nevertheless the flown route is easy to trace.
