ame wrote: August 15th, 2022, 4:47 pm six feedings! oh dear, it's a small surprise that even three of them are able to stand up. :rotf:

i have now watched the recording of the grey bird flying by twice in the morning, first at 8:29 and then at 8:31. i'm not 100%-convinced that it was a goshawk. i think that if it had been a goshawk we wouldn't have storklets any more. the same thing as at Eedi's nest would have happened here.
ame, he calls after flying from left to right. Besides, they are already too big for him. according the behavior of storklets it was a raptor. The tail fits and the calls!

EDIT: I think there is a difference whether he tries it on one storklet or whether four attentive juvenile are watching him. Goshawks are known for quick attacks, not watching and thinking for long and then flying by...

BTW: see what Swenja wrote! seven feedings! I missed a delivery, or I can't count :slap:

18:44 feeding again
Karl II sees that there is still fish in the nest. I think he didn't leave that much fish. But it's enough: the chicks are about to burst.

Bonus and Waba pick up some of the old fish.

The cuddle time will probably be canceled because they can't lie down that full.

but now it's getting too much....they shouldn't get any fish for a day. Do the 4 glorious even know how to search for food?
Karl II is suddenly gone... and then what?

Maybe Karl is prepairing the chicks for southward flight.

I think everything they eat now goes into reserve. They are not too late to fly to Africa either. They have time.

Voog knows s/he has to move.

August 16

Good Morning everyone :hi:

today the Storklets are 86 (Bonus), 80, 80 and 77 days old.

Swenja, thank you very much for reporting and great pictures . And for the daily summary too :2thumbsup:
sova, pirkkokn , Amanda, thank you for your contribution

I agree with Swenja, there is plenty of time for migrating! The longest known time is 142 days!
At the moment they are in much better hands in Estonia than in other countries that they have to pass through on their way south.
