Mum fed wonderfully until 14.39.40, making sure everyone was getting enough
and Dad was there the whole time watching, so lovely.
What a nice family this is, great parents and also great little osplets. Little #3 is pretty strong.
A joy to watch them.

Image

another 6 feedings followed until 21.55, all crops were filled very well :2thumbsup:

2022.09.24 - Tumby Island - And just like the Port Lincoln barge nest, when Marrum (Mum) returns to the nest, Partney (Dad) needs a bit of a shove to leave the nest.

2022.09.23 - When you've got 3 mouths to feed, sometimes it's nice to have breakfast in bed - even if only for a minute or two.

2022.09.24 - Dad is doing a great job keeping up the supply of fish. Even at this young age the chicks turn their backs on Mum when they have had enough

2022.09.24 - Check out these photos taken by Bazz Hockaday this morning.

Bazz Hockaday > Friends of Osprey

Port Lincoln birds.
Calypso (blue band) and another magnificent bird, both with fish, perch and feed on one of the few suitable perches in the area.
Calypso appeared to have the skin of the puffer fish hooked firmly in a talon. She flew to the nearby beach to clean up then bumped into a flock of klepto parasitic silver gulls as well as a juvenile pacific gull with similar intention.
Back to the perch where she finally dislodged the skin.
Another entertaining and educational few hours in the field witnessing the action.

this fish was very attached to its life, fighting so hard for its life that it knocked down all three chicks
on one of the hits with its tail, the fish forced the #2 even to somersault

I'm not sure, had less time and could catch it, but I would think the middle one. :D

Last season I discovered a osprey cam, which is also very beautiful. I'm nearly sure, that you would like this stream too.

Really pity is, that the PLO not changes that bad microphone. The sweet voices are not to hear.

2022.09.27 - 9, 8 & 5 days old - One advantage of living on the barge is when a fish flops out of the nest it is easy for Dad to retrieve it. Mum doesn't feed it all to the chicks so Dad comes in again and takes it for himself.

https://www.facebook.com/portlincolnosp ... 498596376/
2022.09.27 - 10, 9 & 6 days old - It wouldn't matter is Mum was still on the nest, the kids will fight and she will just watch on. This is the life of an Osprey - warts and all.

https://www.facebook.com/portlincolnosp ... 871790604/
2022.09.27 -Tumby Island - Easy to see why Eric calls it Windswept Heights. Marrum stood up to get ready for the incoming fish delivery and the wind caught her from behind - still two eggs - even tho Mr Fox paid another visit to the island last night.

2022.09.26 - Tumby Island - While Partney was keeping the eggs warm, Marrum flew off and returned with a big stick but Partney shook his head and said no way.

https://www.facebook.com/portlincolnosp ... 605111075/
2022.09.26 - Marrum wasn't successful with the stick so she thought she would try for some 'soft furnishings.'

https://www.facebook.com/portlincolnosp ... 903228172/
2022.09.26 - Tumby Island - We've tried Plan A & Plan B so now we'll try Plan C. Mr Fox came by one camera, paused to make sure we got a good selfie of him, then continued on around the island to the Platform. If ever you needed proof installing the platform was a good idea - this is it. These Osprey eggs would have been dinner tonight. The Osprey may be safe but unfortunately all the ground nesting birds on the island will be suffering. Eric Kotz saw fox prints on the mainland opposite the island last week so maybe we will have to do something over there as this could be a new fox - we may have 'disposed' of the other one.

https://www.facebook.com/portlincolnosp ... 693380405/
2022.09.025 - Mr Fox was certainly on a mission last night. He retuned to the platform 3 times, but was after the Silver Gulls nesting near by.

2022.09.25 - No3 may be the smallest but he/she certainly doesn't back down. Plenty of fish today so it's just normal sibling rivalry.

https://www.facebook.com/portlincolnosp ... 083456536/
2022.09.25 - Even when it's raining Dad can still deliver a good sized fish for his family.
