Emiliano :hi:

10:25 H21 calls (in the tree?)
A larger bird crosses below the nest. Possibly H44

10:34 A crow nags at the nest tree.
H21 is either already gone or ignoring the barking.

10:43 'Gjak' ...so still present.

11:04:18 the first Goshawk flies away
11:04:22 the second one (you can also clearly hear the sound of departure here
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."

11:09 calls - close to nest

11:31 Crows
'31 also an H calls
'33 again

The crows don't rest. They continue to rage for many more minutes.

11:57 and '58 H21 with urgent calls in distance
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."

13:41 - 53
(I don't list every timestamp)

The increase in the calls from H21 can be heard very, very well here. It actually starts out very softly, not too loudly.
But her calls are getting more and more urgent... coming from deep within her and seeming so intense that everyone must hear her very far!

14:02 She leaves the tree.
in fact, H21 sat slightly below the nest.
It flies far backwards through the grove. And calls again...

14:07 We see the Goshawk approaching the nest tree and hear its 'Gjak'.
...and again... H44 now?

Possible because
14:12 Now H21 can be heard with their urgent calls in the grove

'13 again

14:15:48?

Shortly thereafter, again the other tone and H21.

14:16 H21 still in the woods

15:02 Crow gargles and
short sounds can also be heard - not absolutely sure but I think both.

15:04 - 27 Softly their 'Gjak' can be heard again and again. Sometimes really quiet.

Accompanied by the background choir ...
"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."

Thanks Polly for the report of the day. :2thumbsup:

H21 is seen as powerful, as marking territory or angry with its elongated sound.

We have also had a good opportunity to appreciate distances with sounds. At 14:02, leaving the tree, we see it fly towards the yellow tower, it makes an arc to the left and we hear its sounds at that moment. He would keep moving forward, he wasn't that far away and his sounds already seemed far away. (Almost everything we hear that seems distant to us is not so much in most cases).

Good work. :2thumbsup:

Greetings and see you tomorrow.

December 2nd

Good morning Emiliano, @all :innocent:
H21 is seen as powerful, as marking territory or angry with its elongated sound.
...and she continues her series of tones today.

Although the first calls of the morning were dynamic, they were also frequent for their usual morning calm, but both were in contact.

Then H21 started showing excitement again.
What's going on in the couple's territory?
Is there unrest we don't see/hear or is H21 unhappy with H44? Is it a next phase of direct nest bonding? H21 is conspicuously present and active in the nest tree.:puzzled:
It's early December - too early for final hormone surges, isn't it?

Well, at least the whole of Riga now knows where Team H is located. :D

H21, however, shows high tension in the last few days - or demands?

08:12/13, '17, '32
09:15
(A great tit jumps through the tree, chirping.) :innocent:
The couple can be heard together. Nothing unusual.

09:26 H21's reputation changes again.
'27 - 30 urgent calls
'31:02 H21 leaves the tree

09:31:32 back
No shouts now

09:36:13 The sound of take-off and the upper branch is teetering. H21 leaves the tree unseen.

"Throw your heart across the river and swim after it."

Both to hear:
10:26
11:58 ....they babble :innocent:

13:07 H21

14:35, '36, '39...'41 (*), '42

(*) I've listened to it several times. Yes it sounds very safe like H44 in parts. But he also has tones that don't sound like him. He chirps unusually ...
It's him, isn't it?

Hello Polly and everyone. :hi:

H21 is still present today: 14:46, 15:01, 15:32

The sounds of H44 have something strange, days ago its gjack sounded clearer than that of H21.
You have to wait and it would be good if they appeared at the nest.
We know these elongated sounds of H21 in another context and at this time it shocks us. I think one year of Margo in December already put a stick in the nest.

All the best

December 3rd

Good evening everyone :2thumbsup:

I was in a lot of chaos today, but I tried to follow what was happening in the area as much as possible.
Well... no branches. Instead, it was a most unusual day.
Yes, I have also read it on other sites/literature etc. that the first pairings sometimes even begin as early as December.
But that sets good conditions beforehand, climatic. It will take a while here in Riga. Although 'City - Goshawk' starts the season a little earlier than the Goshawk on open ground.

It was almost worryingly quiet today.
Well, scary only because the couple has been all over the place lately.
This calm in the day is probably the normal rhythm at this time of the year.

Emiliano, did I miss/miss something? maybe you have more

No babble today. I haven't heard the couple together. Only one - H21.

10:40 Landing in the nest tree - two short calls
More sounds from the crows.

13:07 far away excited shouts

13:16 A goshawk comes through the grove into the nest tree - another short call follows
(and the crows in tow again)

14:27:08 Hm, nothing was heard before, but we see two birds flying out of the tree. One gurgles...
I can't say who surprised and drove whom away.
Two different plumages - a crow and a goshawk.

Not good pics, sorry.

Emiliano, I really hope that will happen soon.
I am very insecure and have unrest in me.

Something is wrong and I hope I'm wrong again.
It's like a jigsaw puzzle where no piece goes together and some pieces just don't belong.

I don't know if you can track the camera. I miss the joint briefing of the H's. There have been no mutual contact signs since the day before yesterday.
Well, my vacation is over and the camera has to run stop & go again. Maybe I missed something too

09:16 A crow is jumping around on the side branch.
Only briefly - at least one Goshawk seems to be present and does not tolerate the visit.

The crow is chased away and the goshawk returns to the tree.

11:08 And the crow tries again.

12:40:42 - 47
'41:04 -07 Excited shouts in presumably further away.
I would not attribute this voice to either H44 or H21. It sounds foreign to me.

13:36:50/51 Knacks in the wood.
Delicate sounds/near - these don't seem to belong to the H's either.
It sounds thin, youthful. But cracking was hard/female ...

correction

I looked at the situation a few more times - the plumage has grown up/adult Goshawk!
We even see the Goshawk. I didn't see him earlier - just heard him. :slap: Perhaps the transition through the branches was a little uncomfortable at one point...so this gentle beeping is a sound of displeasure/sign of inconvenience.
A possibility ...

13:54 a series of soft 'Gjak'... H44? :dunno:

correction
It might have been him who slipped through the tree a few minutes ago.

Now everything becomes clearer! :loveshower:

The snow may also muffle the sounds and make them sound different.

redemptive...

14:06 Calls in the grove (H21?)
Shortly thereafter the sign of H44 with some soft sounds

14:30 - 34 collective chirping of alarm from the little neighbors and the Jay

Hello Polly. :hi:

You are scaring me. It does look like H44 , I think there is no cause for concern.
Lately I don't have much time to listen: something in the morning and then the end from where you left off, although if I'm at home I'm online and I take a look every once in a while. We're under construction.

All the best

It's dark now. I haven't recorded anything that shows any signs.

May I mention again, specifically ask that every contribution is welcome here?
I'm just an observer like everyone!

Have a nice evening on the second Advent and thoughts to all those who are suffering and plagued by worries during this time.

Hello Polly and everyone.

In the afternoon very short monosyllables of gjack were heard between 14:33 and 14:39 on five occasions and then again at 14:55 and 15:39. No apparent answer.

Goodnight
