Neve Eitan (Hebrew: נְוֵה אֵיתָן, lit. "strong residence") is a kibbutz in the Beit She'an Valley in northern Israel. Located about 1 km east of Beit She'an and 1 km west of Maoz Haim, it is under the jurisdiction of Valley of Springs Regional Council. In 2019 it had a population of 311.
The kibbutz was established on 25 November 1938 by Polish members of the "Akiva" movement as part of the "tower and stockade campaign". Native Israelis joined the settlement in 1952.

Bea, Francesca, Anne thank you
Waba is obviously feeling good. We don't have to worry about him.
And for Bonus, I guess it's the land of milk and honey? If it is now still enriched with oxygen, there is no stopping it ...
What's going on with the fish ponds? Each one has a different color?
For all a happy weekend

Hulbi, thanks for the interesting video.
What's that white stuff on the floor? Or is it just light reflections?
Perhaps the task of finding Voog and Iks will overwhelm us all?

Hi everyone !
Francesca, does this tell us anything with certainty?
On the one hand, it makes me worry to see 0% battery. On the other hand, I guess the transmitter wouldn't have sent something if Udu hadn't changed his location before, so that's a good indicator that he's probably alive?

Hulbi,
I don't know for sure...
I think we can receive the transmitter signal because Udu's transmitter (and hopefully Udu) is in an area where the GPRS works well. As you wrote!
If he were dead and thus always in the same spot, I think we would have seen the transmitter signal more often.
On the other hand, it is possible that Udu is no longer alive and someone has found the transmitter and taken it. So we can only talk about the transmitter, not about Udu.
But let's stay optimistic!

Good evening everyone, please, is there any data which way UDU returned during the spring migration back to Europe? Was it as challenging a journey through the desert and the Mediterranean as in autumn 2021? Thank you for the answer!

look, this is the set of Udu's locations points from 1.2.22 - today. We see his location points in Africa til 4.2.22 and the next points are recorded in Italy starting from 6.8.22.

Good evening everyone
Thank you Bea and Francesca.
Francesca, you made very beautiful Google Earth views of Udu’s first migration!
Our Bonus is a funny little stork. First s/he barely moves forward, and now s/he has apparently decided to keep on flying, quickly heading for Africa.
Bon voyage, Bonus! Take care.
As Francesca's tracker map shows, Udu’s transmitter did not send us any loctation points between Central African Republic and northern Italy. The battery has been dead all the time.
But fortunately, Ornitela, the transmitter's manufacturer, which also retrieves the data, can occasionally see from which area the transmitter is trying to make contact.
Urmas informed us that Udu tried to send data this spring on his way north in the vicinity of Iskenderun. Then, until 29 June, there have been a few more connections in Turkey. On 5 July there were also a few connections in Bosnia and Herzegovina and as from 14 July Udu was reported to be in northern Italy, between Milan and Turin.
So Udu flew a "common" spring migration route until Turkey, but then s/he continued northwest and ended up in northern Italy. Which is an unusual summer site for Estonian BS juveniles.
Please see this post

We have no idea where our Udu is currently.
The last known location points (as well as the last known connection area reported by Ornitela) were in northern Italy.
Hopefully Ornitela will be able to see some new location areas.
Edit:
Udu's first autumn migration 2021 in yellow.
In bright blue the only very approximate locations we know of Udu's spring/summer migration. (Everything in between is unknown)
Again, Udu flew quite a bit further west than what we usually see.
