Hello everybody! :hi:

WABA

▶︎ TRACKER MAP
WABA 04.12./05.12.2022
From 04.12._11:04 until 05.12._11:04

https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing

Distance flown: 49,4 km
Battery level: 100%

Waba sees no reason for changes and so s/he is still in Sudan at river Nile
Image

Also today Waba is active in the area around Affat, mostly at places s/he was already before

Hello Bea  , thank you very much.

Waba is not in a hurry, but does not worry us.
Maybe there are many fellow storks and it is very pleasurable. ..
Or s/he is actually waiting for the friend from childhood days Bonus?
No matter what s/he does, it will be right.

Good evening! :hi:

I assume Bonus is now in the Sinai Peninsula, and from what I know of our other BS, this is an area with poor GPRS connectivity.

I tried to make Waba's map but I could see only this Geofence. I have asked Urmas about it. Perhaps, more later.

But there is this picture on the Ornitel page.

Hi everyone ,

Jo, this is only a technical issue though, I hope? The second picture looks like a normal day.

Jo, :hi:

I looked at the OrniTrack page and figured out what apparently went wrong.
This setting was erroneously as follows:
Image
(Meaning: use/show/retrieve only SMS data). Someone apparently changed those settings. :slap:

I have reset this panel to how it should be for creating our tracker maps.

I can make the tracker map, if you would like me to.
Or would you rather do it yourself?

Edit: Apparently, there are also 2 settings pending for transmission to the device.
I assume Urmas is changing a few settings.

That's right, Hulbi. Sometimes, Urmas will put an area on "special measures" like a geofence. Then he can access more information in that area. The Ornitel picture appears to say the Waba is having a normal day on the Nile, but we can't access the various data points, as is usual

Thanks for spotting that, Anne. Yes, please make the map. I can do it tomorrow.

The name of Waba’s favourite island in the Nile is “El Fung”.

Island El Fung is an island in the Nile and is located in Northern State, Sudan. The estimate terrain elevation above sea level is 237 metres.

Thanks for the update, Bea. That's a pity. I hope Bonus isn't already completely off the radar for the winter. But mainly, I hope all is well with him / her, wherever s/he is right now. Stay safe, Bonus!

Good evening to you all!

E-mail reply from Urmas -

Geofence was enabled during chicks in nest but not disabled later. So it may disturb sometimes. I made changes in portal, but these will act after next transmission. Hope the geofence on your screen disappears

I do not remember, if wrote that Black Stork 708T from 2012 Tiit&Tiina nest has been almost every year trapped into photo traps on some nests in western Saaremaa island. It was announced about 2017 similar information, but five years later it goes the same story. Nobody knows, if 708T (Tommy) breeds somewhere or is single or what ever. Asked colleague to send a photo about 708T, maybe it will be.

Hmmm - strictly, not for this topic of Karls' families. This was in the time of Tiit and Tina. But they are OUR black storks!

Good news.
Tommy (708T), who was one of the Tiina & Tiit offsprings in year 2012 (viewtopic.php?p=133213#p133213), is now adult stork, visited nest in western part of Saaremaa island in Estonia. He did not start breeding there in 2017, but was spotted by trail camera twice in one nest
viewtopic.php?p=542412#p542412

It's awesome to see these photos of Tommy! :2thumbsup:

This was well before my time, but that's absolutely amazing! I can just imagine how wonderful this is for those of you that have already been here at the time.

And of course I totally agree with Francesca's wishes for this year's storklets!
