Re: Estonian Eagle Owl Nest 2022, 2023
02:01 It is the usual constellation: #1 eating, #3 sitting tightly beside him and #2 sitting somewhat behind waiting his turn. It looks to me as if the two younger owlets are not overtly hungry. I have seen them much more nervous before when food was there and they couldn't eat. Today they are even falling asleep while they're waiting.
02:01
02:10 Hmm... ? A parent arrived (I think it was Hanna) - 23 sec. stream gap - she walked back from the pantry. Has she brought a larger prey that she did not want to place in front of the owlets? Or has she just checked the food situation in the pantry?
02:10
I thought it was Hugo at 01:55 and Hanna at 02:10 by their behaviour: "Hugo" delivered his prey and left quickly via the lower big branch. "Hanna" walked confidently into the nest to the pantry, then sat for a moment at the edge of the nest box and left from there. BUT the pictures seem to suggest otherwise. I think I remember this "pointed necklace" pattern on Hugo's chest from earlier. So, was it Hugo who walked confidently through the nest? I will check older pictures tomorrow.
02:15 another prey delivery by... Hanna?..., a small bird I think, this time for #2.
02:20 #1 and #2 are eating, #3 is hissing
02:27 #2 is fighting to get a leg of his bird into his throat
the stream is still jumpy, very unusual for this time of the night.
Good night!
02:27 (on my watch it's actually 3:00 )

“Animals, like us, are living souls. They are not things. They are not objects. Neither are they human. Yet they mourn. They love. They dance. They suffer. They know the peaks and chasms of being.” (G. Kowalski) Caveat: Apart from this remarkable sentence I do not agree with his philosophies.

Askja, thank you for your detailed reporting and your great patience
I have to check the download. Normal stream check is completely pointless to check because it always jumps back 12 hours
2:27 two owlets are eating . # 3 is sitting in the corner
2:59 two preys are visible
3:45
a animal was screaming for a long time (or was it a barking? fox.. deer)

Hanna is now feeding ours sweet little #3
13:10 #2 is now on the table too. #1 stands behind Hanna on the right . Great to see, that #3 is fed

13:54 Hanna is still with her owlets. and off she goes to the left
13:55 #3 is doing a healthy ps
14:05 crows are calling
Hanna comes back in the nest. #3 is on her side .. hungry as always
14:11 she is plucking something
She jumps on the right branch . little went to the left to the siblings
14:13/14 ? she flew away
14:50 it sounds like shooting practice, military maneuvers?. But I can be wrong. There are noises that sound similarly dull. It all seems far enough away.
BTW:
I always look at my watch because the time is not visible in the video. so it happens that I'm wrong every now and then for an hour. But I'll correct it as soon as I see it

16:34 #3 is standing during scratching it's head
17:01 it seems like the youngest can't rest. It's always "on guard"
17:09 it lies down. Crows can be heard
