.
:puzzled:

After Karl II fed the chicks around 14:12, he takes care of the nest bowl.

At 14:14:11 he takes out something very small, and puts it aside.
Image

14:14:18
He continues his work in the nest bowl
Image

At 14:15:20 Karl II takes something out again. This is a piece of eggshell.
Image

Was there still an eggshell in the nest bowl?
Or has #3 hatched?

OK,
thanks Swenja

Then it must have been pieces of an 'old' eggshell.

Edit:
It would be good if #3 (and afterwards especially #4) were not too far behind ...

I scroll back and try to hear any egg talk every time a parent stood up.
It’s not easy. I can’t clearly hear the 3rd egg. :slap:

A little rain is quite good, but a 2nd camera now
from an angle above would also be awesome.

Not that we only see the 3rd chick after days.

Thank you all for your comments with great pictures, information & Co.

Beautiful evening! :loveshower:

Ornitrack Information

KAIA

Kaia spent the night in a forest about 3.5 km from the nest.

At 04:31 she flies (at 36 km/h) to a brook about 4.5 km from the nest.
Between 04:41 and 05:11 she searches for food in that area.
At 05:16 she flies (at 43 km/h) to the nest.

At 05:20 she arrives home.

At 09:44 she briefly leaves the nest.
She gathers nesting material near the nest.
At 09:58 she is back on the nest.

At 13:50 she leaves again.
At 13:56 she flies through the forest, not far from the nest.

She flies south to a brook in a wooded area, about 15 km from the nest.
Kaia is not far from the Latvian border (at about 6 km).
She searches for food along that brook from about 14:26 until about 17:41, over a distance of about 1.2 km.

At 17:46 she flies back to the nest (not in a very straight line).
At 18:18 she is back on the nest.

Today, Kaia flew nearly 50 km.
Battery level: 100%

Ornitrack Information

KARL II

(Karl II sends sometimes only 1 location point per hour).

Karl II spent the night on the nest.

At 05:21 he flies out
Until 06:42 he is near the nest, gathering nesting material.

Between 07:42 and 08:42, he can be seen in the area of fish basket 3 (a small river in a forest), about 4.4 km from the nest.
I don't know if the basket was filled.

At 08:56 Karl II is back on the nest (camera observation).

At 10:42 he is in flight northwards (28 km/h) to a river about 14 km from the nest.
I see him on that river (over a distance of about 2.2 km) between 11:42 and 13:27 (not many location points are shown)

At 13:42 Karl II is in flight (at 55 km/h) towards the nest.

At 13:50 Karl II arrives on the nest.

At 18:27 he is in flight (at 44 km/h) towards a river where I have seen him frequently last year, at about 9 km from the nest.
At 20:42 (last known location point), Karl II is still looking for food in or near that river.

Today, Karl II flew 48.8 km
Battery level: 52%

Good night, everyone, and thank you all!

June 03

2 chicks and 2 eggs are in the nest.

Good morning!

05:36 Karl II comes to the nest. Kaia flies away after short greeting.

Image

Karl II brings a nice fish breakfast. Both chicks are eating well.

Image

Image

#2 is nervous when eating. The chick takes longer and cannot decide which fish to eat.
#2 is interested in every single fish.
