10:05 Kaia gets up again.

She cleans the chicks.
The difference in size between the chicks is significant.
And we know the difference will most probably increase in the next weeks.
The youngest chicks will presumably only catch up with the oldest two once the older ones stop growing that fast.
But as long as there is enough food for everyone, it is not a big problem, I think.

Kaia preens herself

Today, the chicks are 7 - 7 - 5 - 3 days old.

The 2nd chick is 15 hours younger than the 1st.
The 3rd chick is 52 hours younger than the 2nd.
The 4th chick is 32 hours younger than the 3rd.

10:50 feeding

Looks like only 1 fish? Not sure...

One of the bigger chicks had it first.

Then the two youngest ones pulled at the fish.

11:56 Feeding
Pics later. As soon as I have time

Karl II regurgitated several times

It is not easy for the youngest to acquire food among the bigger ones.

Thank you very much @Anne7

The feed is well mixed. I think Karl II and Kaia bring a lot of valuable feed to the chicks.
I sometimes don't recognize that at all. The chicks sometimes eat so fast already.

Ornitrack data this morning
from 04:23 to 12:23 today

Was Kaia at the fish basket near the nest this morning that Urmas moved to a new location? Yes, she was

Kaia left the nest at 06:12 and flew to this fish basket, which is about 1 kilometer away.
She searches this brook according to the course of the stream and covered about 2 to 3 km during the search.

From there Kaia flies directly back to the nest where we can see her at 08:53.

At 11:47 she is replaced by Karl II in the nest and makes her way back to this brook. She begins foraging at approximately 12:08.
Data session ends at 12:23. - no more data now.

Kaia doesn't just empty the fish basket, but looks for other food herself.
The chicks need varied food so that they grow well.

#1 is now getting a haircut.
The head feathers become a punk hairstyle and the black feathers on the face can be seen.
And #1 ate so much!

All the chicks ate well.

#3 often came later today for feeding. I was beginning to think that the chick might not be doing well.
But today was probably just a leisurely day? #3 always took part in the meals. It just often got up too late.
Watch tomorrow.

Ornitrack data Kaia
from 12:23 to 16:51 in the afternoon

At noon Kaia searched the area along the brook around the fish basket that Urmas had brought here from 12:08 to 12:46.

She flies north following the same brook for about 3 km.
Here she stays along the length of about 1km until 14:49 looking for food.

Her last stop in the afternoon is a brook 2 km away further north, which she reaches at 15:06. This brook is in a forest with wide clearings or meadows.
At various sections she searches for food until 16:36 and she finally flies a wide circuit over forest and field.
From here Kaia flies the distance of about 6 km back to the nest with a speed between 40 to 60 km/h fast.
We see Kaia at 16:51 in the nest.

At 16:53 it was feeding time and there were frogs for the chicks.
