Funnily enough, the nestling stepped out of the nest again just under three hours later (08:52:01, 30 July 2022). This time (s)he was aided back into the nest by the two-strong INPA team that came to ring it at 13:41 the same day:



The nestling is now known as C40 and, aged 92 days today, is expected to fledge in the first half of September.

The nests of J04 and A40 and of J35 and T99 are now empty. First to fledge (at 134 days of age) was the chick raised by the former pair:

The other fledgeling left it late, finally leaving the home cliff at the age of 141 or 142 days:

​Good evening @Chels! I do not think that chick fell from the nest. It looks to me that chick wanted to step out of the nest. He/she knows how to klimb back into the nest. So maybe chick prefers ​to remain outside the nest?

Hello! The 2022 Hai-Bar Carmel nestling (C40) has been extremely busy in the last couple of weeks:
29 July: out of the nest for the first time (aged just 89 days!)
12 August: first trip to the feeding station (see the Charter Group Birdcams video below)
18 August: fitted with a GPS transmitter and wing-tagged as E26
24 August: first flight (aged just 115 days!)

Since making his/her first flight, E26 has been staying in the nest area, often hiding behind the nest and sometimes popping off to the restaurant. As the Charter Group Birdcams video below (taken earlier today, i.e. 28 August) shows, old habits die hard:
