Lesser Spotted Eagles - Latvijas Dabas fonds ligzda eglē 2020-2021 - Anna und Andris
Lesser Spotted Eagle (Clanga pomarina) nest in Zemgalē, Latvia
This nest is located on the western edge of Zemgale. It was found in 2018 when eagles nested successfully and one young bird left the nest. However, as the researchers discovered, it did not experience its first flight to the wintering sites - early 2019, the remains of an adult young bird were found on the ground about 100 meters from the nest. The nest is built in a spruce at a height of 17 meters, in a stable fork of three branches. It is a typical small Lesser Spotted Eagle nest - about half of all LSE nests in Latvia are built in the spruce trees, and a large part of them are built in such places where branches have formed a fork. Judging by the size of the nest and the condition of the material, the nest is at least five years old. Jānis Ķuze and Jānis Rudzītis placed the camera system at this nest. Thanks for the support of Janis Kažotnieks and Renate Kviese! The live camera operation at the LSE nest is provided by the Latvian Fund for Nature within the framework of the project "Providing Lesser Spotted Eagle Protection in Latvia" (LIFE AQPOM), which is financially supported by the European Commission LIFE + program and co-financed by the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund Administration.

A beautiful juvenile northern goshawk. Thank you rockdove
A Interesting event. The goshawk is preening himself, he has arranges twigs.
then he jumped on the left branch. You can hear the screaming jay. A few minutes later the Goshawk is visible on the left. Then he/she flew away

Sorry for the confusion. I didn't know there was a couple at nest. I only did it see in the video!
It starts here:
viewtopic.php?p=719841#p719841
12:27 Male returned with a branch
They flew away
Then they mate in the forest. You can hear it!
Arrival female, arrival male. Departure and mating song near the nest
Now I'm waiting to see what happens. Maybe I'll find distinctive features. Then I can correct myself again. At some point we know who is male and who is female. But the 2nd LSE was significantly smaller and had longer legs? the head shape different too?
