EDIT PS: I think the photos I share add value to the thread as they are taken by ground photographers, not from the net cams.
Owlie, to be honest, it's not in my interest whether you have permission. This is only important for the owner and you! I understand the explanation that the ground photos that you provide are the reason. They are really nice photos.
But, It was about your complains about members who use other sources too. You choose which sources are welcome and which are not. That's what bothers me.

Not all LK memebers have Facebook account, therefore it is justifiable to share FB pictures in LK forum. But sharing LK posts on another forum is unnecessary as everybody has access to LK even without signing in. And sharing pictures and posts without permission in internet is not OK.

Can our little star Katrin survive the winter in her current location, or does she expect someone to take her home again when she is cold?

Bigfan

I don't know if it has ever been observed that BS wintered in Katrin's current area. But on the very nearby island of Lesbos, it has been reported several times. I suppose that the climate is very similar.
Cool(er) winter days are not a big problem for BS. As long as the water bodies don't get frozen and there is a good availability of food. Winters in Çandarlı are mild.

We will have to wait and see what Katrin decides. 8-)

Edit:
The climate in Çandarlı is warm and temperate. The winters are rainier than the summers. According to Köppen and Geiger, this climate is classified as Csa* (*hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters). The annual average temperature here is 17.0°C. In a year, the total rainfall is 664 mm.

WEATHER BY MONTH:
Image

July is the warmest month of the year. The temperature in July averages 26.7°C.
The lowest average temperatures in the year occur in January, when it is around 8.1°C.

You’re welcome, Bigfan!

Thank you, Jo!

Little Katrin is back in Yayakent, Kınık district, Izmir province, Turkey. :-)

Did she get homesick for Yayaköy Creek, south of the village of Yayakent? 8-)
Or did she need to rinse the salt of the lagoon from her feet and drink some fresh water?
Katrin remembered exactly how to get there without flying any detours.

Image

Katrin has been here before. :D
Image

She was looking for food (and maybe needed potable water) in Yayaköy Creek, and then she went to sleep in her familiar spot in the forest, next to the stone quarry.
