oooh, Sofija, what a wonderful young woman you are! I have met - online - two women who started the same as you. When they were 13-14 years old, they rescued and healed injured birds. Neither one became a vet, but both became rehabilitators (rehabbers). One rescues a lot of bald eagles and other birds of prey. Both women inspire me every day, and you do too!

Here is the website of one of the women, Marge: http://www.raptoreducationgroup.org/

Here is a picture of Marge holding a young female bald eagle that she rescued last week (I hope this link works!)

Wow - the size of that eagle, bociany. :faint: Marge is obviously a very skilled person to be able to handle birds of that size.
I notice the firm grip on those amazing feet!

I know those eagles are big birds but to see one in the arms of a person gives a good
idea of the size.

"I wish Spot also was somewhere nearby..." (Asteria)

Is it known now if Spot is he or she?

S/he could be where Tõnn is, but Africa (S. Africa, Namibia, Zambia ...) seems more likely. But on Eagle Club's pages it is said that South Europe is a possibility.
Migrating LSEs from Slovakia and Germany (Meyburg; 10 birds altogether with trackers) have been radiotracked. Here is an article on 7 (?) German LSEs from 1994 http://home.scarlet.be/~pin02658/ApomarinaE2.doc.pdf, more articles listed here; 3 birds seem to have been lost, the others all went quite far south in Africa.

It looks as we have to wait to the springtime and see if Spot lays eggs. I can´t hardly wait. Do anyone know if eagles return to de area where they are born?

Even if Spot is a female, she is too young to lay eggs this spring.
