then she flew to the trunk and went to the top.
6:33:56 she flew to the upper left branch. i think another woodpecker talked nearby...
6:35:11 the young woodpecker lower on the left branches. knocked...

i think another woodpecker knocked nearby... the female was still there, too.
6:36 the young went to the top.
6:36 - 6:38 one of them called on the top (?).

no-one big has been here. not even the woodpeckers shuffled the hay on the nest itself.

I really like the little guy. He makes summer and happiness in the heart. It's a shame that it can only be heard for such a short time of the year.

Thank you @ame!

it's raining and the sky in the east looks very dark! :slap:
Image

17:56 there was some sounds of thunder.
18:08 again. the sky was dark in the east.
18:09 more.
18:47 rain.

thank you Polly!
we have here at our summer house also one chiffchaff who sings most of the day around the house tlink-tlink-tlink-tlank-tlink-tlink... tkl-tkl-tkl... tlink-tlink-tlink-tlank-tlink-tlink...
if i had the window open (but we can't have the windows open because of mosquitoes) i would have difficulty knowing if the singing comes from outside or from Latvia.

June 29

good morning!

at about 2 am there was a thunder storm with at least a few nice lightning flashes.
here's one. the delay from flash to the onset of rumbling was 17 s. sound travels in air (in about normal pressure) 1 km in about 3 s so this lightning struck at a distance of about 6 km.

2:21 onward a longer storm with some good flashes.
this was the brightest. in fact the EMP of the flash has wiped away most of the data in the stream at this moment.
Image

this was the closest strike, at about 3km.
Image

the "eye" of the storm was south-west of the nest; the light was coming from over our right shoulders.
