Hello!
I would like to see them breeding, but I'm afraid of the racoon.

Leo was there yesterday evening, Lotte today. Only seen as a dot at first and then went up. I am curious whether Lotte will breed and if so, where.

The noise they made sounded like mating sounds to me :faint:

The one who was out on the ledge had an interested glimpse to the lower balcony, to the former nesting place.
Have you seen how they can climb? They can probably reach any place on the ledge they want.

I read that it´s the females, who hold a kind of territory. Maybe this one here already had a territory somewhere not that far here in the Ahrtal, but it was destroyed by the floodings? And now found a new interesting one? With the hunting success last season here in the nest cave?
Just some mind games ....

I hope our Eagle Owl couple keps enough safety distance .... I am pretty sure that the raccoon/s also have been here in the times where the camera was out and I can´t imagine that our Eagle Owls haven´t noticed them meanwhile.

A beautiful place, not only for owls. It's a pity, we won't see any more owlets here, I hope Lotte has found a safe place and the offspring will come to visit

Hi,
a new diary entry.

It's very long. It is about the racoons, about a maybe new place for breeding, about Leo who can't bring enough food, so Lotte has to help and must stay away for a very long time and about other owlets and their nests.

On the "News" (Nachrichten) page on the webpage of EGE Eulen is a note, that Stefan Brücher started to ring Eifel owlets on 15th April.
http://www.egeeulen.de/inhalt/nachrichten.php

And there is also a link to a nice article about Stefan Brücher and his work and situation of Eagle Owls in the Eifel, published in Kölner Stadtanzeiger

All in German language only.

A new video from EGE Eulen (Stefan Brücher and Sonja M. Weinberger)

"Von Angesicht zu Angesicht" (Face to face)

A very brave Eagle Owl Mom is watching Stefan´s doings during ringing her owlets pretty close!

New message from S. Brücher: 2 little owlets found nearby.
Maybe we can see them in front of the camera soon.
