She settles down in the nest:

'Smiley' ! What are you doing? Bored or something? She suddenly gets up and directly heads at the - yes, here we go once more: 'thing in the magical corner'. And she is working hard, tugging and tugging, loud cracks. Hm, seems to satisfy her in some eagle way ...

:hi: Susanne
I love your comments...especially the ones that don't announce/document an eagle... :rotf:

19:31: Bless you! 'Smiley' sneezes. - She seems semi-relaxed to me, since she is watching the area rather closely - besides some preening, of course.

19:50: She leaves and flies away to the right.

Noteworthy today: We have heard her calling several times (around noon and in the evening); regarding her behaviour, I'd say that there must have been another eagle in the area. Her 'attack' at the plastic thing was rather unusual for her, too, she normally ignores it. (and it was quite a 'spontaneous' action, a kind of displacement activity?)

Vacation time for me - 14 days offline  I'll be away from Aug 3 - Aug 17 and will then join this wonderful forum again. Until then, fare ye well!

7:24 Yana re wrote in YT caht: "05:19:37 Самец с кольцами"

i agree: this looked like a male. the country ring was Estonian but unfortunately it was impossible to read the number on the black ring on the left leg.

the eagle searched the nest. i tried to call him advice to go and look at the front right corner where the microphone is (and it might be easier to see the ring) but he didn't hear me.
then he went to the balcony behind the nest. he preened for a while...

then he fell asleep. i thought first that he saw some prey under the nest and watched it: he beak fell and his head turned slowly to the left.... no: he was sleeping.

5:45 he woke up for a while but then again fell asleep.
5:54 cranes called far...
5:56 a little tit, either a willow tit or a marsh tit visited the nest. then more little birds around...
the Sun rose and the eagle slept....

6:29 onward the male was sleeping again...

7:25 the ringed eagle came up to the nest. the ring code was still invisible
7:29 the eagle went back to the branch.

two eagles called.
8:33 the ringed male cleaned his beak. then the other called.
8:35 a loud feather ruffle from nearby. the male turned and rubbed his beak against the branch.
8:36 both called loud.
8:46 calls from nearby.

9:31 the ringed male jumped back to the nest.
still it was impossible to see the ring code. :slap:
9:36 the eagle jumped back to the rear balcony.

i'll need to make videos later.
...
9:54 the ringed eagle jumped to another branch on the right side of the trunk. only his beak was visible there at times.

later the spot went into shadow and it was impossible to see anything any more.

i couldn't find out when the eagles flew away.

thank you Yana re for the observations!

Thank you ame, IceAge, Sova for keeping an eye on Matsalu :loveshower:
Such a pity that the rings of the male visitor could not be identified (do the Kotkaklubi people have an idea about the ID? ). But nice to hear a male WTE's 'jingle bells'!
And thank you Sigge  for the nice tune

Aug 17

Eagle evening!

19:47: Arrival of two WTEs. The ringed male in the nest bowl, the female on the p-branch. Educated guess - and this time, the black ring tells me more about the ID: Looks like E 340 :D , and probably 'Smiley' on the p-branch. Both are panting, it's hot today in Matsalu, around 30°C.

19:52: The male joins the female on the p-branch. Later, one WTE chooses a lower branch at the right (you can see his/her head in the middle of the right screen edge):
