I was wondering if the tracker is strapped on or 'taped'? (Sometimes medical skin glue is also used)

April 1st

Good morning everyone! :hi:

06:11 Alla is sleeping
Image

'18 she is already at the edge of the nest and looks into the morning.
Image

'31 Alla leaves the nest

One egg is good to see, the other is probably hidden under the piece of bark.

08:40 Nobody has been back yet

***
08:45 Ruudi comes to the nest, bringing a long twig.
Image

He pushes a twig in the nest bowl, puts some pine greens closer to the eggs, and lays '48 on top of the eggs.

09:07 Ruudi leaves the nest again.

09:51 Alla is now almost 3.5 hours away.

15:08 Well eaten Ruudi lands, 15:09 covers the eggs
15:40 Ruudi flies away,
That was a hard day for us observers. The eggs were unprotected for hours.

I remember last season - the temperatures were sometimes even lower. Ruudi and Alla know what they are doing. :innocent:

I think Alla will lay another egg tomorrow. (Last season the intervals were 3 days.)
She took a lot of time to regenerate today.
Then she will also start to stay on the eggs more consistently.
From then on, if a fourth egg follows promptly, the hatching dates would be in the good interval.
Or? :puzzled:

Alla knows how to do it...
Yes absolutely!
00:45 - 00:49 Alla is calling in loud voice , alarm
You are good Hellem! Thanks!!! :2thumbsup:

In fact, Alla is not wrong.
00:44:48 completely silently, the bird arrives at the side (slightly below) the nest.
Image

00:44:53 he jumps up. You can see his silhouette. But I don't want to say that he stays on the edge of the nest. Not even short. I think he jumped right on.

Alla spreads her tail feathers. She has absolute defense position.
Image

Everything will be fine.
Probably an smaller owl, right?

Hardly anything was heard:
(except Alla)
00:46:17 melodic
00:46:40 like a croak/bark
00:48:15/16, 40 ?

01:08 Alla covers the eggs.

Later in the night I happened to find geese (01:41/42) and again that short call like barking (sorry I screwed up the timestamp)

April 2nd

The morning starts normally again. The excitement is gone.
Allah is ready to go quickly:
06:14 eyes are still closed
Image

'15 eyes open
Image

stretch briefly and Alla runs out of the nest.

Alla is not long in coming.
06:33 She returns (Ruudi probably saw her coming) and hatches onto the eggs.
Image

Image

07:19 She is fumbling with branches in front of her.
'20 Alla gets up, continues to arrange branches and loosens the nest bowl.
Image

'21 and covered the eggs again.

Alla and her bumblebees in the butt ...
07:23 She comes off the eggs again and continues to work. Alla primarily pulls the green pine shoots into the nest bowl.

Then she climbs onto the edge of the nest and leaves the nest after a short sightseeing in the sunny morning. :innocent:

Hello Polly - Hellem and everyone. :hi:

Of course they know what they are doing, these irregularities in the first days after the laying of the first eggs are aimed at hatching the chickens with less age difference.

As for Ruudi, I did notice at first that it seemed that he did not have the transmitter but it is more covered since on some occasion I have seen it.

Greetings

08:59 Alla brings bark and covers the eggs.
Image

from 09:05 she gets visitors again...
A pair of bullfinches fly and call around the nest. Sometimes it sounds like there could be more than one. Seems they disapprove of the Goshawk's presence.
Image

They are present/heard for several minutes.

09:37/38 Alla gets up, loosens the nest bowl and lies down again.

The woodpecker calls...

10:05 - 08 Nest work again
10:37 Alla leaves the nest
Image

'39 Ruudi takes over and brings a branch with him. He's lying on the eggs.
