December 26

Warm greetings to all who find time for what is happening here in the area these days.

I'm only half successful... I can't concentrate 100% on all the sounds.

So just my humble observations:

08:26 again not close but clearly H21 with calls

09:31:26 A goshawk flies close above the nest

12:19 crows are present.
Close.

I hope our couple gets back on track soon. I miss the clear presence of both.

December 26th

Hello, Polly. :hi:

Thank you for your daily effort, there are few people who document practically everything at this time of the year. It is not modest, it is giant. :2thumbsup:

Since 12:19 I have not heard anything, just a doubtful moment.

Good evening

In the date of the day you put 25-12 and I think it is 26-12

Oops, yes... you're right Emiliano. I will change it.
And thank you for your kind words

December 27

Company holidays at the H's.

The only visible sign at all was 10:04
'04:09 A goshawk leaves the edge of the forest and flies low towards the nest tree. We hear him land too.
'04:15 Another goshawk sitting on a low branch in the grove on the left also flies into the lower area of the nest tree.
Then calls follow.
Calls that I can't sort out vocally. My first thought was that he's not one of the H's. Light like H21 but it doesn't sound as powerful, sharp. As we know it from her. But who knows....

It's still cracking hard in the tree 10:08, '10

10:16 tits jump around the nest.
However, the heavy cracking can still be heard afterwards.

10:57/58 Angry crows and a lot of air traffic. Also representatives of the H's - Airline?

13:30 A flock of small birds can be heard vividly above the nest.
As they fluttered away on command, it looked like feathers were flying. :slap: I was scared for a moment.

Hmm, that was it.
Keep crowing...Jay.

It's two, isn't it?

Sleep well!

Good morning together! :hi:

As for the couple's vitality, it's a good morning so far.
Both are almost unequivocally recognizable, their voices easy to assign.

08:31 A Goshawk is approaching low from the industral area below the nest tree. Then calls of both H's follow.

'32 Now call from a different position

'48/49 The couple flutters actively through the grove. To be seen and also to be recognized by their calls, which sound alternately from other positions.

Very moody today. :innocent:

09:12 Still here.

Today seems to be a very active day.
09:45/46 A loud crack, then excited shouts from both of them.

09:59 H21 is calling in the grove and we see that (probably- hopefully H44) is flying towards it from the industrial area.
More calls follow.

H21 challenges their partner today. :2thumbsup:

10:52 A crow approaches, nagging. The tit, which is browsing the nest of the tall neighbors, looks up as the crow flies over the nest.
And H21, which seems to have been sitting very close by so far, is not enthusiastic about the guest passing through. 8-)

There will be a few more videos today... Jay and Buntspecht will follow.

But today there is also a lot going on here in the community.

Incidentally, the temperatures will climb well above zero in the next few days. I don't know whether the longer days that are getting longer or the milder temperatures are more important for increasing animal activity.
Maybe the combination of both?

11:28/29 While a crow boldly occupies the upper branch, rubbing its beak, it is encouraged by its buddies from 'outside'.

Image

11:40 A call from A B or C.
Clear yet unclear whether Kind, Goshawk or Jay.
'43 begging calls, quiet but clear. (Jay)
'50 - 53 Now quite clear - a visitor who again presents many personalities.

The Jay approaches as a Goshawk (although Milanes sound like that at times I think), morphs into Buzzard...back to Goshawk but the finish - the finish is always itself. He always has the last word - Jay.

12:14 A bird close to the microphone with a crackling sound.

Some time later we see who visits the nest - male great spotted woodpecker. A beautiful animal! :innocent:

Climbs up the edge of the nest and pecks its way across the nest back into the grove.

12:51 A goshawk flies low to the ground past the nest tree, lands and stays at the spot at the edge of the forest that the pair seem to enjoy sharing.
Judging by his moves, he has prey.
'57 leaves the place
'59 back

I don't know when he left the place, although I searched for a long time and mesmerized the stream.

13:36 It's probably H21, which slips quietly onto the side branch. She watches a lot upstairs.
Image

Image

13:38:45 What is she doing?
Does she growl? Or is she sneezing?

'39 A crow bullies the female. H21 saw them coming and remains unperturbed.
Image

Image

13:40 H21 leaves the branch and disappears into the group of trees. You can hear shouts from both of them.
Image

Also rattling crows...they won't rest for a long time today.

13:50 One must have returned.
(Possible 13:43. There were landing noises)
A goshawk exits the tree again into the grove.

15:12/13 + a few minutes more
Again something or someone close under or in the nest tree.
16:27 again

Think, apart from an animal (rodents, martens), it can be someone who is looking for firewood.

December 28th

Good evening Polly and everyone. :hi:

...They are like that!
They keep alternating louder activity with distant sounds or silence.

Undoubtedly the most relevant factor of activity is the length of daylight hours on days that may already be growing, albeit slowly. Doctor Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente said that the fine pituitary already detected this advance of light.

H21 clearly on the tree, it maintains all the signs of the previous year, it has offered us its crown, cheeks and bearing. There have been signs of communication between them but he has not yet begun to deploy his target from under his tail.

Thanks for the full report. :2thumbsup:

Best regards.

Hello Polly and everyone. :hi:

Sounds heard

9:55, 56, 58, 11:17,18, 24, 52 ,12:03

Nothing else for the rest of the day.
A sighting of a fast crow flying at 13:29:46

Goodnight everyone.

Emiliano, good evening! :2thumbsup:

My work life picked up speed again and my husband had to guard the stream. Better - he offered it.
He does it cute and dutiful - now he can tell seagulls from goshawks.
So we may not have everything today - but it's totally okay. It's often enough for me to know that the couple is doing well.
And it obviously does. :innocent:

Not much today but sure signs of H44 & H21 welfare.

Complementary and thank you for your guard Emiliano ...

11:17 H21 sounded excited.
11:18:05 flapping again at the 'meeting point'.

11:24 H21 again
We see them far behind in the grove

13:06 The couple speaks softly while the crows gargle loudly in front of the garden fence.
'08:30 wood breaks
(Ha, I was always worried that the couple would build a nest somewhere else when I heard it. Meanwhile, think that the wood just gives way under their movements.)

Dear @sova, I too send all my thoughts and good wishes. The turn of the year is always very moving for me. Looking back ... looking ahead at the same time. Globally there are infinitely many overwhelming construction sites. Let's start with things that we can move positively.

May 2023 bring good turns!
🍀

Not to forget our animals today. They are have very restless hours.

It was very quiet yesterday.
Today my husband wrote down three time stamps again, but I haven't checked them yet.

I'll just let the stream run for today....and hope the animals can have a better day tomorrow.
I will start the next year with my family and the flat share in the district of the magical H's. :innocent:

Greetings also to Spain !!!! Thanks for a very nice year together @Emiliano!

Have a good start in 2023!!!!

Thank you Sova and Polly.

2023 January 1

I heard it...the loud rustling in the tree and shared it with my family.

We already hear the 'chattering' at 11:50 p.m.

23:59:28 Probably one of our H's flies into the nest ... shortly afterwards into the industrial area.

Everything seems panicky and excited.
Goshawk rarely fly at night.
We've only seen H44 fly to his family in the nest at night in the past.

I am so sorry.
What our animals go through that night.

I haven't heard from the Goshawk about the day, absolutely nothing.
15:19 ...with a question mark, rather no.

Only the crows returned to the tree/nest in a swarm.
11:50
