owlet has been busy - practicing jumps, taking big, fast strides around the nest, playing with a feather, gnawing and clawing the wooden post and picking up a stick (in picture)



the parents made a sunday visit - hugo brought prey



hannah got in the nest and did some clearing up, while the owlet fed itself

hannah visited the nest at 2.29



she came back with prey at 2.41



after a couple of minutes she left and owlet tried to eat

hannah came back at 3.22




and took the prey away

under Hannah's supervision the owlet has fledged

first hannah's on this branch


then she's moved to the other branch and owlet comes to this branch


then the owlet finally jump/flies

there it is - all fledged



on youtube someone said it has fallen to the ground - it was out of the camera's sight and still is, so i can't tell what's happened... hannah checked the nest and has gone now...

i think the owlet is still in the tree - not at all sure, but its call seems to be coming from the tree rather than the ground.

the crows have become particularly noisy and are flying all around the nest

earlier i heard a parent owl hoot

18:35 sounds like owlet fell to the ground and Hanna instantly looked at the ground aswell.

kathryn russell on youtube stated 18.35 - so i looked and there was a sound at 18.35:22 at which point hannah started to look down and the call might have changed position...


i wonder if the camera operator will sweep around so we can try and spot the owlet - like it did last season

she looked in the same direction as before


and flew in that direction - could the owlet be around there?
