I was off for a week and only now knew sad news. My deepest condolences for Urmas and his family.

ame, there is no name assignment in the title.
Karl is mentioned first. That's how it is here. We are misogynistic
I myself tend to name feamles first.

äsch, i meant the thumbnail picture. Karl is on the right side with his ring and the name Kaia is pointing to the right with the arrow.
or is it supposed to be like that...? :puzzled:
it confused me.

September 8

good morning!

yesterday evening and last night:
22:26 calls of Ural owls (?).

00:44 calls but by whom?
https://youtu.be/v3yfElu0Bsk

04:04 a voice but by whom?
https://youtu.be/L0a73rTDZ6Y

04:!5 another mystery voice.
https://youtu.be/ZH5b5NTBiYE

5:42 - 5:49 pygmy owls' calls.
i think that the small spots floating in the air must be big fog droplets in front of the lens

5:51 cows and dogs talked, plus a pygmy owl.
5:53 more.

8:56 loud voices of a great tit.. also other tits.
8:58 visible.

9:42-3 a crested tit visited.

10:33 a lot of bird voices around and very near the nest. a jay, a great tit, a nuthatch, someone banging on or near the microphone, a willow tit, things dropping from above. no-one visible.
10:41 -10:43 a great tit visited with much less noise. :whistling:

Is Karl suddenly alive again? It would be nice if it were taken into account that Karl was a different black stork.

I assume that this is Karl II. I think the clarification is important as there may be users who don't know the difference. (because they don't know about Karl.)

This is my youtube channel and it's my videos. My 145,000 Youtubers know who is meant. Only you have a problem. Why am I not surprised?
It's not about your videos. I didn't write anything about that either. It's about the topic here!
And it only concerns the fact that there are 2 different black storks. This should also be clear to new users who don't know anything about Karl.

As always, I would like to thank you for your extremely friendly and factual tone @Liz01 - Thanks very much!

i think i once wrote something about the Karls. i have also been lazy and have called our present male only Karl. as a justification i wrote that in everyday talk everybody knows who we talk about when we talk about Queen Elizabeth. seldom one writes her full name Queen Elizabeth II. the same with the Danish Queen Margrethe and she is II, too. and the same even with the Swedish king Carl Gustav although he is the 16th Carl! no-one gets confused.

.
a little laziness is allowed to everyone :puzzled: , but in general I agree with Swenja.

(In terms of correct naming of the birds)

great shots of the owls voices, thank you very much

:hi: everyone

It is in tribute to our beloved Karl - who perished on his way home on 29.03.2019, just across the Syrian border - that we continue to call his successor Karl II. It is a way of keeping the one and only Karl from being forgotten.

Our Karl was not a famous European king, but a wonderful Estonian BS, and therefore confusion may happen (by people who never knew him). That would be a pity.

After all, it doesn't take that much effort and time to type the II, does it?

I think we should also remember the book about Karl (and Urmas). It is also very suitable for children and contains wonderful photos and facts
about the nest, Karula National Park, taxonomy, anatomy and classification of black storks much more and lots of fun.
How is the book currently available?

Yes, Swenja, that was a fun project!

Jo and I wrote the content, and our dear member Orinpix (Kaori) made many gorgeous illustrations. We worked on it (and had fun) all winter. It was written for a fundraising (to fund transmitters), in 2018 if I'm not mistaken.

I still have the files
But the digital book is not really available.... unless we organise something new, of course! :D

It was a lot of work and time! Actually priceless and it was and has become a really nice book. Very good work!

Now of course we are all concerned whether Karl II and Kaia and the young people will safely reach the south and whether we will be able to see Karl II and Kaia again next year. In addition to all the dangers, the terrible war must now be considered if we follow the transmitters.
Thanks also to everyone for the hard work evaluating the track data.

Yes, maybe he perished, but we don't know that.
I shall look for his tracker map data in about 90 minutes.
