10:51 Voldis worked a little. then he continued looking around...

this time of the year may be the most delicate and sensitive time of the year in their breeding. they want to make sure that the environment is safe for raising a family. if they saw some disturbance they would still have time to build a new nest somewhere else although they would be in a great hurry. Durbe and Robert did something like that in 2015.

both have come home behind my back.
there's also a huge bale of new hay on the nest.

... oh, there was a new eagle! older than the previous ones. thank you Liz for the pictures!
that was probably 5CY (± 1 year) old male: thin ankles, the beak was yellow but the eyes were rather dark, the plumage was fairly light and grey on the back and front, spotty on the behind under side. the tail was more white than bark but the tips of tail feathers were still dark.

both are looking in the sky. is the sub-adult flying there? they don't look exactly worried, more interested.

12:30 Voldis brought the big bale of hay, but Milda didn't bring anything. Voldis worked but Milda looked mostly around in the sky.
Liz, i agree: the bird who flew by at 12:35:25 was not an eagle. it flew so fast over the meadow from right to left that it had to be rather close, and it looked so small that it had to be rather small. i think it was probably a crow. that would be interesting enough so that they would look at it and small enough not to get worried about.
