Good morning Matsalu, tere hommikust muna !
Snow has fallen over night, E 340 was on the p-branch.
06:30: A juvenile female branches on the right. Both E 340 and 'Smiley' are calling, protest: this is an absolute no-go now, sorry ...
'Smiley gets up and first has to move the big branch further to the rim. Then she walks around the dry bowl and with more calls, supported by E 340 and ...
06:34: ... jumping onto the p-branch, she shoos the juvenile away.

Big thank you to Grieta and Liz (and all others, once more) for your videos
Rewatching is really fun, these two are amazing. How secretly they have chosen their breeding site, outsmarting us (at least: me) because of their not being there often during the last four days before all this happened. Now, in retrospect, their rather explicit response to juvies visiting the tree - whom they usually either tolerate or ignore - gets a whole different meaning.

09:08: E 340 returns. She is asking softly for a change:
09:10: E 340 takes over and 'Smiley' leaves.
around 09:40, the cam is off (the weather ....), mike still works. Don't worry, everything will be fine.

Oops, the first egg. I hadn't expected that yet. I hope for the eagles' sake that the weather improves.

Thank you Liz
16:39: Still no cam, but the mike works (I didn't note callings after cam said good-bye, just tuned in some minutes ago). I can hear soft calling, presumably 'Smiley', asking for a change ... or food ...
16:41: More summoning calls.
- and silence again. I wonder if it's still snowing.
17:09 ff.: A Wood Pigeon is calling, and a flock of small birds is passing by (siskins?).
17:31: Loud calling by the female, I think.

19:12: E 340 rolls the egg.
19:14/15: Changes position, turns around, head to the camera, beak anchored in the nest bowl rim. Back to sleep.
19:57:54: A WTE branches at the right. E 340 calls. Greetings! 'Smiley' has come home.
Change. She takes over, E 340 onto p-branch-> right branch. He leaves at 20:04.
She turns once more, tucks her head into her feathers and goes to sleep.

Dear all, I've been asked about naming the couple as they have an egg now. We had a chat with Urmas and as the male has a ring E340 we think that the name should start with an "E". Also, we like the reasoning behind choosing name Eerik for Matsalu WTE last time. So, could we go with the name Eerik II? (or Eerik III considering the ringnumber ) As for the female, some of you have called her "smily", but she should have a proper Estonian name that starts with an "E" as well. What are your thought on the topic of nameing the male and the female?

Great! I just came across the story or history of the names Eve and Eerik today - honouring Estonian ornithologists, correct? So, Eerik II would be OK for me.- What about Esta for the female ?

Good morning to everyone, either with two arms or two wings.
E 340 truely deserves to perhaps become Eerik II (or III ). Perfect food delivery and sharing. Jah!

10:21: 'Smiley' is calling.
10:25: .. and changes position.
