Suddenly, Tom became attentive and productive. Within half an hour he brought two opossums.
This is the delivery of the second one.

Angel has raised 3 chicks earlier and is 7+ yrs old. Her first mate was Mohawk, who is no more in the picture, his fate unknown.
Tom is a first time dad, they bonded already last year, when Tom was still not mature and they didn't produce any offspring.
So this is the first season for this couple to breed. Inexperienced Tom didn't recognize the first chick but took it for an intruder and eliminated the chick. Also with the second chick he tried to fight the chick, but Angel came into the nest and rescued the hawklet. Since then Tom has brought food and watched Angel feeding the chick so we hope the worst is behind now and the life goes on as it should.

Angel is attacked by a Blue Jay.
Tom wasn't at the nest this morning. Not to bring food, not to defend the nest. Maybe he's just hunting away.
The attack is still ongoing. The video is just the beginning, not the full length of the bullying.

Angel doesn't stay far.
Because the Jay (there are at least two) are a potential threat and they remain obtrusive.
Angel returns to the nest and now at least the chick is safe.
But no sign of Tom...
The Jays remain tireless.
It is now 12:15.
A little calm has just returned, but the little one has to be fed.
Angel is having a rough morning.

12:35 The Jay don't budge.
Angel is going through a rough patch without Tom.
Both Angel (longer) and the chick (less) will hold out for a while. But where the hell is Tom?
For the past 3 hours, the Jay Angel have been trying to wear him down.
I saw Jay at the nest of the Lesser Spotted Eagle last year...just over an hour. It was a war of nerves.
But 3 hours!!!!

The feeding of the little one remains behind closed curtains.
Still, very, very relieving.

Tom and Angel come together, Tom carrying a prey, possibly a young turkey.
Blue jays keep pestering Angel... (slo-mo, 0.5)
