Hi everyone! 
An eventful day! Anne7 has already provided lots of info on Alvar and Kerli, whose journey we are now able to follow.
And our wonderful Kergu is now a strong contender for being the first of our storks to leave Europe - he has flown from Romania to Türkiye, crossing Bulgaria, in a single day. 
It never stops to amaze what these birds are capable of.

Birdmap has only two updates at this time, Alvar hasn't moved much, but Kergu has even surpassed his flown distance from yesterday. He has left Europe and is now in the Asian part of Türkiye.

Information on birdmap:
A Black Stork caught in Pärnumaa County, probably a female bird. Its breeding is unknown because it was caught at the end of the breeding season. She got its name from the fact that during the installation of the transmitter, an old but healing ulcer appeared on the side of the body - probably trauma from some kind of collision.
Black Storks were fed at the fishing site since the beginning of May, but it is not entirely certain whether there was only one specimen or several.
Trauma started its 2024 autumn migration on July 25, but not immediately towards the wintering area, but spent time in Latvia, Belarus and Lithuania. The migration stopover is located in northwestern Turkey on the Ergene River.

Hi everyone!
A two-day update, and lots of things going on. Kergu is still in the lead, and has - astonishingly - already reached Israel. There was another "phantom flight" to Ankara airport that is distorting his total distance count. Timmu has sent new data, he is halfway across Türkiye. Nurme and Alvar are neighbours for the time being.

Now half of our storks have (at least) reached Türkiye, while the others still are in Romania or Ukraine. Today's map shows our "front-runners" only, but I have added another picture showing Nurme and Alvar, whose paths may well have crossed in the last hours.
